Question DVD-RW vs. DVD-RAM

My gf is in the market for a DVD recorder by either Panasonic (DMR-E50) or Pioneer (DVR-310-S). Now the Panasonic uses DVD-RAM disks and the Pioneer uses DVD-RW disks. Now what are the differences between the two media? To me it seems like the Panasonic one is better because RAM can "tape" longer while the Pioneer can only go up to 6hrs.

Btw, she'll be mainly using it to tape TV stuff so quality of playback is not really an issue.

The DVD-RAM disks will only be able to be played on a PC with a DVD-RAM drive or another DVD-RAM recorder and not a regular dvd player or dvd rom. So if portablity is not an issuse then go for it. The RAM disks can hold more data, about 5 gig total and write at a much higher speed then the DVD-RW drives.

The RAM disc is a cartridge style disc, that allows writing on both sides.

Main issuse is portablity imo...
