DVD/CD Burner Won't Write CD's!

Alright for the past month, my DVD/CD writer won't write any CD's, I've tried different makes and nothing. It'll read CD's, copy and burn DVD's...it's only when I try to make a cd I have a problem? It keeps saying to install a CD-R/W disc. :S Does it sound like I need a new DVD/CD writer? How hard are they to install?

pretty much just remove the one thats installed ... use the same wiriing to connect ur new one .. making sure that the jumper is still set to the right spot .. check ur existing one .. should be "slave" but could also be "master" depending on ur setup ... as for cost ..they are dirt cheap

easy plug and play install, but it makes me think you have a software rather than hardware issue. what are you using to burn CDs and what kinda files are you burning?

I use Nero to burn my files but why up until recently I'm having this problem?

I'm trying to make an audio CD, I've done it before with no problems.

does it recognize a blank CD when it's inserted w/o having Nero already started? like does inserting a blank CD launch an application, and if so what application is it?

do you have a trial version of nero, a cracked version, or purchased?

So doesn't sound like the writer is crapping out on me?

And also, how do I know what kind of Memroy I need?

^^ what kind of mobo you have.....go on the manuf site and read the specs....

as mentioned earlier

- check firmware for your writer
- you might also want to, re-install the burner and re-install the drivers/firmware

and then try again, sometimes drivers/firmware gets corrupted.

if you dont want to bother with any of those, just get a new one they are dirt cheap..............LG ones works great for me so far.

have been using it for 4 years, and have 3 other them, 1 in each computer and works great.

LG is crap.

LG and BenQ.. never buy 'cheap' brands so that you save $10.

pioneer is the way to go for burners. I wouldn't buy anything else (except plextor, but that's a whole new ballgame)

Looks like it won't even read audio CD's.
