Red face ...does counting sheep really help?...

If you have a problem or big decision to make, can you sleep as soon as your head hits the pillow, or do you have difficulty catching zzzzzzzzzzzzz's?

If I have a major problem or decision to make in the near future, I will be up pretty much all night. It's really tough to get to sleep when I have something serious hanging over my head. That's when my friend in a bottle comes to the rescue.

I've hardly gotten any sleep this past month, since I've been so stressed out. Its sad how I want school to start so I can get rid of this stress, but it means bringing in a whole new type of stress!!!

But I take pills. Its some natural kind. I forget the name though now.

I work shifts, so I always have diffaculty sleeping at night. Its not stress or my mind racing, I'm just a nighthawk. I find reading or doing something that isn't very stimulating helps.

Whenever I am building a custom system all I can think about is the car I am working on and what else I could do to it. So I really never get any sleep.

I can never sleep on a set schedule , maybe 1 or 2 days a week I will actually sleep before 2am but most of the time i end up lying in my bed all night watching tv unable to sleep and find myself tired as hell next day at work.

Yah, if you have something on your mind, definately try and solve it or you'll be up forever. I usually watch a movie that I find boring which will get your off whatever was on your mind, and fall asleep, OR, I usually try to clear my head, get in a comfy position, breathe, and imagine that I am on a cloud floating, which usually relaxes me and I usually get some zzzs, as stupid as it sounds, it works for me Or just eat a lot till you get tierd, but that's the worst way to go to bed

I used to have problems going to sleep, but i figured out a method that works consistently for me. I find a "story line" that i can run through in my head, following the same series of events or going to the same place every night. I get three or four minutes into this and im out. I don't know how much sense the aformentioned explanation is going to make to you guys, its a difficult concept to explain. Its all about breathing calmly and focusing you thoughts on that one thing.

It's been said that sleep patterns are sometimes a cyclical thing...there may be times where falling asleep is an elusive dream ("dream", haha, no pun intended!), because the mind is so active...then there's the flipside when staying awake is almost impossible.

Two things help me.

One proverb I've read is "do not let the sun set with you in a provoked state", in other words, solve issues if you can. But sometimes you can't.

So, when in that cycle where sleep evades...watch The Weather Network, volume low, a stack of pillows, a dark room. Not too sure, but I think it's that music they play over and over and over...zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

i do what the chinese old people say... "enlighten yourself" haha... when i can't sleep... i meditate and try to feel the quiet-ness and peace around... then my mind would be empty... i then lay down and fall asleep within mins....... but on nights i'm really stress or frustrated... whenever i meditate... when i close my eyes, i can pictures things and i get really angry..... when that happens, i just tell myself "forget about sleeping", then i'll play a game or two of the famous japanese soccer game "winning eleven", i just play until my body can't stay up

That doesn't sound weird at all. Actually, classical music can have a very soothing effect...as long as you're not listening to "Ride of the Valkyries" by Wagner!
