I get so dark in the summer! But supposely what I learnt while I am in China that the lighter skin you are, the higher social class you are in, because if you are tanned, it looks like you work outside on the farms, hence lower social class. Maybe that's why chinese people don't tan? Lol, and in China, they call chinese westeners "Bananas"

so if you have money to lie on a beach all day or play lots of golf, you're considered low class? sounds weird to me

That still doesn't take into consideration the fact that some people are naturally darker.
