cops handing out tickets like crazy

thanks to kids who race on streets, and giving the ppl who mod their cars as a hobby or race only on tracks a bad name, ever since those few accidents occured which killed several kids, cops have been handing out like crazy. E.G. This past saturday night i was playing snooker at club kennedy and happened to look out the window to find cops pulling over just about any souped up car they see. When I left and was about to head south on kennedy, i saw like 4 cop cars on the right hand lane near kennedy and mcnicoll and a lot of modded cars which have been pulled over. Luckily I was able to make a quick right instead and avoided what probably would have been at least a couple of tickets.

its just the usual bs tickets like improper headlights, improper muffler etc. not anything out of the ordinary that you would not find on most modded cars. but its just now cops are on this more than ever because of the bad apples

CyniKal.Mindset, first, you have never seen my car, and also i have the same equipment that a lot of other ppl have, so are you trying to say that everyone who has an aftermarket exhaust, engine swaps, and ultra white headlights are bad apples?

its not a defective drop, I have ample suspension movement, wheels dont rub etc. so what is improper about the ride height of my car?

my car has been inspected by police and they havent given me a ticket for anything I have...why? cuz it is all up to proper specifications...this is why I'm not "affraid" of the police like some other people are that complain that they get tickets for this that and the third

I have nothing to hide nor to fear of the police, mto etc. my car is 100% legal thank you

so i guess a large number of people in this forum are bad apples

the only okay apples are the ones with near stock or stock cars?

all I'm sayin is if your mods are "improper" then deal with the tickets and stuff like that, too many people complain about gettin tickets for stuff that they know or should know are deemed "improper" by the HTA, MTO, EPA etc.

if u want a super loud exhaust and get a ticket for it...take it like a man, u bought urslef the ticket, if you want "cool" coloured headlights and various other lights...deal with it, you once again bought urslef that ticket

if you keep it within the given guidelines then there is nothin to worry about. motor swaps arent illegal among thousands of other modifications you can do. people just like to choose the ones that arent in the guidelines and then complain about them when they get caught

yea that is right however there are those who get harassed b/c of those loser kids, i guess adults too racing their cars bone stock and/or highly modified around city streets thinking they're the fastest out there

many people just wanna modify their car, not endanger the lives of others, and b/c of these people who cant control themselves, they cause the 'controlled' to be sterotyped and get harassed

common, its not like u never J-walked across the street, littered, etc..

i would complain if i got a ticket for j-walking the same way i complained about a past improper muffler ticket... (driving normally in a residential area, no disturbance or n e thing)

On one hand I cant blame the cops for targeting us, ive saw so many idiots driving modified cars, on the other hand i feel like we are being harrased and targeted. i cannot believe what happened last year at cayuga when all the people that actually listened to the cops advice and "took it to the track" were pulled over as they left the track and given bs tickets, its all a cash grab, some kids in a stock civic die and they start targeting modified cars and throwing some of the most bs tickets known to man at us. Well ive never been pulled over yet and theres not a single thing i can get a ticket for but u know what its only a matter of time i get pulled over driving a CRX and given some sort of bs ticket like a ticket for oem foglights. I can see myself telling the cop that they are oem and stock..and he will probaly say "ill give u a ticket anyway for them. its funny everyday i see soccer moms and people in mid-high end luxury cars travelling way past the speed limit, also hear harleys which are much louder than any import, yet these people never get ticketed or bothered. There are drug dealers, rapists etc roaming our streets they should be finding them instead of wasting time pulling people over for blue lights ( which alot of new cars have) or exhausts.

again

seriously it's not the car it's the driver they are looking at ..... then when they pull you over they nail you...

my car sticks out and is very easy to tell it does get raced (at autocrosses not the street) but I never get pulled over... why? driving style and driver position in the car ....anyways since I can't have bad driver position in the car anyone want to lend me their's I bet 20 bucks says I can position myself in the car to get pulled over. and I bet I can do it in a stock car.

what is improper? Unless its stock suspension then it is not improper. You may run into the nice cops that wont hassle you but all it takes is that one bad apple and he could give you a ticket for anything regardless of whether "you" or the MTO think its ok, then youll be here on the board the next day crying because you got a ticket and how cops **** you off....

so unless your car is 100% stock you have no grounds..

EXACTLY

People sometimes avoid the police because they KNOW they will be pulled over, not because of anything illegal, but because of profiling.

Theres no way you can honestly say that police DO NOT profile drivers by their cars...

Jay, I drive totally properly i don't sit leaned all the way back with my head barely above the windowsill, i don't have the gangsta lean all the way to the middle of the car, so what's the reason that i get pulled over for all the time? all my tickets have been BS other cops have said so, and the courts have said so... or am i just an exception to the rule. My car is 100% legal also yet i get tickets... and yes i avoid areas with cops cuz i don't feel like spending 40 minutes at an unplanned stop with three cops hassling me and shining flashlights at me and in my car...

Why don't people start listing the type of ticket(s) they get for their car?

On my car, the only visible difference is the front bumper, and the muffler. I have been followed by cops on the highway that I don't even know. Because I was in the flow doing 100 ~ 110 and the cop just passed me. When I see cops, I just drive like normal. I don't worry a thing. If your muffler is loud, just dont' floor it. Mine is N1 type and I don't floor it.

Everyone will have their own story to tell, it is hard to be specific so we can only generalize the whole situation.

Bottom line is, obey traffic laws, drive within the speed limit with +/- 10 km and no more than +20 on highways if you must speed or you are in a hurry.

If you believe the ticket is fightable, then fight it. Plain and simple.
