computer problem

ok heres the problem, desktop turns on , the mobo screen comes up then it goes to the safe mode last config that worked screen then i press enter on that one and it starts to load windows, then suddenly starts restarting. it wont get past the windows booting thing.. andi cant see th edesktop

anyone know what the problem is? i need to get the stuff off the hdd also...the drive is less thatn a yr old too, it was a warrnty replacement drive..

anyone ?

mine did that cuz of bad sectors on my hdd...put in new drive and back up your old one before it takes a real dump

you should be able to scan for bad sectors though, load something using a boot disk or something...

yes...you can do that...I forgot to mention that I did that and they were shot to hell and it told me to replace hdd and contact company for warranty info etc

yea once i have a drive with bad sectors im changing it, i woudlnt wanna risk loosing 500GB worth of ish ...

u mean defrag? is there a prog i need to scan for bad sectors?

I'm pretty sure you can scan with "scandisk"...you know the one that comes up sometimes if you turn your computer off the wrong way, etc...

I'm fairly certain it will do that (its been a while since I've had to mess around with that stuff)...

if the drive is making noise defraging will most likely help kill it sooner.

lotsa hdd companies have a dos based utility that runs off a bootable disk to check the disk for errors...like a deep scan tool and after its complete it will tell you whether the drive is complete shyte or not

i cant boot anything, safe mode ..nothing works, it loads half the windows xp loading time then flahses that blue screen of death then restarts.. i tried booting off the windows cd, i pressed repair ..then it restarts

WTFFFFFFFF
