Cell Phone Suggestions
I know little to say the least about cell phones. My girlfriend wants a new one for her birthday, but there are just so many out there I can't tell a good deal from a bad one. Basically it doesn't have to be high tech with a camera or anything. She's your typical girls girls so she wants something small and stylish. Not looking to spend anything mroe then $200. And most likely be buying it off the street not retail so keep that in mind.
First thing that popped into my head was the Razor, but everyone has those now. Can anyone suggest anything? GSM that works with Rogers, getting it unlocked shouldn't be a problem either.

big question is, does she want a contract or not? (is she going to use the phone enough to justify, and is she going to use it like that for th enext 1-3 years)....
If she doesn't want a contract (either monthly or pay as you go), I'd suggest either used (on here or Howardforums, or ebay), or whatever thier offering, I think rogers had the v551 pretty cheap, its a good all around phone (despite being a motorola)

if shes going to end up staying with the same provider.. why not use the system and get a new phone that way you will end up getting a better phone for a lot cheaper than buying it right out ... just my 2 cents i used to work for rogers ..
but i do realize there may be a commitment issue as well so i guess its your call ..

ive got great reception actually. im always roaming the rogers network since rogers did buy fido and use all theyre towers but i do have a regular cell phone just in case there is none. i personally think the hiptop2 is the best bang for ur buck since u get UNLIMITED data for only $20/month. u cant compare that to other service providers which wanna charge like $40 bucks for data plus a voice plan and limit u to 5mb/month and charge per kb if u go over but i guess im a heavy data user so guess that works out for me. blackberries are nice but the cost of plans is too much.

Come to think of it... she will probably keep the phone for 2 years max. I would buy one used but, she's just so uptight about something that was held to someone elses ear. I am scrolling the redflagdeals forum and I will post some of my options to see what you guys think. I believe she did call Rogers, and try to pull off the "I'm leaving give me a new phone" type of deal but she's under contract for another 1-2 years atleast so that won't work. She already has a plan so I pretty much have to buy a phone outright.
