Best Cell Phone Plan

Me and my wife both have cell phones. I usually make just one call per day (always at night), and my wife makes a couple. We just use it as a phone, and don't need any bells and whistles.

Can anybody recommend the best (most for your money) cell phone plan. We are on "pay as you go" right now, and it's driving me nuts.

Thanks.

it all depends on how much minutes you guys use it and how often u talk or how long calls last etc...

for you, pay as you go is probably best.
for your wife im not sure.

i would strongly suggest you go to a mall and check out bell fido rogers and telus and find the best plan from each and then compare them.
but keep in mind that most plans suck pretty bad right now.

Fido has some new urban plan or whatever its called with 400 anytime minutes for $30. They also have a 200 anytime minutes plan for $20 if you need less time. I think those are all right. I'm currently using pay as you go, and I'm considering switching to either of those 2.

why is pay as you go driving you nuts? is it the remembering to have to top it up? because you can automate that on most of them...

if you only make 1 call a day I'd stick with pay as you go...

I'm with Fido pay as you go, and the $20 a month card is $0.05 after 7 and on weekends....its pretty cheap...

Rogers has a similar deal $0.01 after 8 and weekends....

If you only make 1 call a day (assuming its not really long) your not going to get any cheaper than pay as you go...

My suggestion, assuming you have no kids, just you and your wife, drop your house line. Its really pointless if you think about it.

Use your cell phone as your main phone line, this way you save an extra 20 a month that you could put towards your cell phone plans to make them a little bit better. Plus, you'll never miss any calls.

Depending on where you work, you might have a corporate plan available for you. They usually have very good rates. My dads TTC plan is awesome.

I'm with Telus pay-as-you-go. My problem is that the automatic top up increments are $25, then $50 .... but the unlimited evening and weekends package is $30 ... so, if I start out with $50 on the account, automatically top up by $25 per month, and have the $30 coming off for the evening/weekend package, the account is losing $5 per month. What happens is that I forget to keep checking my balance; then as soon as you don't have enough on account to cover the evening/weekends package, they just cancel it without telling you, and start charging you 40 cents a minute (all the time you still think you've got unlimited), then presto ... the phone dies cause you ran out of minutes.

I'd rather just pay a reasonable bill every month, and be able to count on the phone always working for me.

Cheers

I would give Telus a call, tell them what you want in a plan, have them switch your phone over (make sure you deal them out of activation fees, threaten to go somewhere else ) and go that way. You can get plans where you get daytime minutes and get evenings and weekends free, or get some kind of weekend or evening package.

I am with Telus and I am happy with them.

I love it when people tell me they are going to another provider, it just gives me another laugh because it doesn't give me any incentive to help them anymore. Anywho, Since your already with telus let me tell you about the "student plan"
- 250 Minutes during the day + unlimited incoming calls at any time
- 100 long distance minutes
unlimited local nights and weekends
+ unlimited text messaging, video messaging, and picture messaging for 2 months**
Caller I.d AND Voicemail 3 are in this package!!
- call forwarding
- call waiting
- conference calling

It's only available till like sept 4th or something and can only be done with High school and college students but if you come we can make that go away...btw on a 3 yr contract you get 8 months of unlimited talk time !!!!!! There are more plans available some cheaper but this is an amazing plan...

yep that is quite the plan!!!!!!

What a deal

If your still wanting to go pay-as-you go with a different carrier, I would check into pc mobile. They have very low per minute rates and they have all denominations of money I believe

rogers all the way, rogers have some nice plans.

my dad, me, my bro are all on some family plan and all together we pay like 50 bucks a month. its one of those company plans.

free weekends, free after 6pm on weekdays, 30 free texts, voice mail and have like 300 mins etc....

Hey Cam I would first suggest calling up the Telus and telling them you would like to cancel your account, or find out what the customer retentions number is. Usually Telus or any wirless company has a program to keep existing customers. They'll be able to offer plans that you won't see in stores and hopefully they'll be able to customize a better plan for you.

I recently got this plan from Rogers Customer Retentions.

Free Cell Phone (Got to choose from 4-5)
Unlimited Evenings and Weekends After 6
100 Min Long Distance
300 min anytime
6 months unlimmited Air Time
Call Waiting, Call Display, Conference, Forwarding

$25 Base Price

Some people have been known to get free voice mail, Rogers 2 Rogers, etc with the same plan I got.

That usually works when you are an existing contract customer, he is on pay as you go, no contract, so that may not work, but you can still try as they will be looking lock you in to some type of contract

Also, you do not need to sign up for the 3 year plan, you can do 2 years 1 year or even month to month. Plans are flexible and give you an option, in case you want to not renew in the future.

Yeah it does work best when your already on a contract. But you can still do it even on Pay as you go, nto sure with Telus though. Since your looking for a Contract anyway Cam it wouldn't hurt too see if they will offer you anything. These guys love locking people up in contracts. It's like Bondage for them

Exactly, just call them up, you already have a phone with them that can be switched over, or even get a new phone with a contract. They have their plans on their site, or even go into one of their stores and just discuss with them what you are looking for in monthly payments and they will give you the plan that suits your needs.
