ATI Radeon 9700 Pro

My buddy has the above mentioned video card cuz he just bought the ASUS V9950 GeForce FX 5900

Yah I know it's mad $$$.

He wants to sell the ATI card to me for $200 and it's about 4mnths old.

I know it's a steal but I don't know if it's worth it for me.

I just got my 17" LCD monitor and I don't play games on my computer much (here and there).

Watch some movies, edit videos and pictures and surf the internet. That's basically all I do, in a nut shell

What are your thoughts??

what one do you have right now?

factorydirect.ca has the Radeon 9000 pro (64mb...DDR w/tv out) for $89.99......and you get $20 back by mail.

Not a bad deal.

Get it. Its a great price. I would get it except I like my all-in-wonder card. (remote, tv etc.)
The ati cards have better 2D quality at high resolution than nvida cards.

Mine is out dated

ASUS 6800 Deluxe it has VR glasses it is kinda cool.

you know what I say if what you have works then why spend money, if you are not happy with the performance of your card then you change. But you know computer parts used are worth like 75% less than new even if they are 2 days old it is just the way it is.

the 9700 pro still sells for around the 330-350 mark... basically the best card on the market still... way way way ahead of it's time...

First its not an all in wonder. Secondly its not "way way way ahead of its time" LOL. Nothing in the computer industry is ahead of its time. Actually by the time it comes out its BEHIND. Cause the next greatest technology is developed. For instance the 9800 is slightly faster. But supposedly a little better display quality in games. And nVidia has their new cards out.
Although I'll stick to ATI cause they have better support in my opinion and they are Canadian. Whereas nVidia doesn't even build their own cards, but sell the technology to other companies that produce cards under their own brand ie "LeadTek WinFast GeForceFX 5600 256MB"
Got to www.sharkyextreme.com or www.tomshardware.com or www.anantech.com or www.hardocp.com With these sites you can check out as many benchmark reviews as your heart desires.

ya the new thing today was actually around maybe 2 years or more ago. It is just it takes so much money to research they have to milk every new thing until we stop buying it, then bring out something newer.
