Animal Lovers....

hi guys, i was watching cfto news at 11pm and they were showing one guy who owned a dog shop. the owner was not feeding the dogs at all..
also they showed each cages (which is not very big) has about 6 dogs who barely able to move but only able to breath...they looked very lonely and thin.
around the area, they showed dogs lying around the floor which have been dead for days because of starvation..some of the dogs are not able to walk because they are not able to stretch around the cage.

on top of that the guy only got penalize for $500.00 only and is back on operation AGAIN!!! not fair.
VERY CRUEL!!! i dont understand how can someone do this..

Yeah, the animal cruelty laws in Canada have not been changed, sice they were written over 100 years ago. There is a bill that people have been trying to have passed for a while (C-115 if I remember corectly) that would increase the penalty for animal cruelty. Right now, the harshest enalty is a fine, and summary conviction, which is not enough.

I remember sometime last year, 2 guys in Toronto were found with over 60 videotapes of some of the worst torture to animals imaginable. They had somehow gotten ahold of several types of exotic animals, including a cheetah, and some monkeys, and were seen to skin them alive, stab them in the eyes with nail, micrwave kittens, etc etc. both were given a fine, and forbeiden from owning pets for like 5 years or something. Makes me sick to even think about, I don't understand why if humans are supposed to be the most inteligant animals on the planet we can't seem to understand that life is life, whether or not its our own species.

Everytime I see something like that it makes me so upset....like the time that guy dragged his dog behind his truck..the poor animal had barely any pads left on his paws when the SPCA finally got to it. They definately need stiffer fines for animal abuse...

FINES!!! They need jail time, and they need to be dragged behind a car them damn selves. So much worth is put on to the lives of humans, and so little onto verything else on this planet. If all we should have for animal abuse is fines, then thats all we should have for human abuse as well. This isn't our world alone.

This type of **** makes me sick...personally I see animal cruelty as a rough equivalent of the same thing done to a human (i.e. if someone murders a dog/cat, they should be subjected to the same punishments as the murder of a human) We aren't barbarians (at least most of us aren't). Actions like those mentioned in the above posts are disgusting, sickening and horrible. I also heard about those two guys who tortured several animals and videotaped it all. Those men are nothing more than the perfect example of someone in dire need of mental treatment. The governement should get up of it's *** and take action - with regards to animal cruelty, as with other issues such as immigration. STOP letting offenders off with slaps on the wrist, MAKE AN EXAMPLE OF SOMEONE! From my perspective, that is the most effective way in preventing any such action from repeating itself. Educating the public about animal cruelty will not have the same effect as would locking up one of those abusing bastards for life. And I don't mean life in jail - lying around and wasting taxpayer's money. I mean HARD work, tough community service sentences and other such tasks. No other punishment will do the same.

Just my 2 cents,

Matt

Well put Marty!

I can't even put in words how I feel, I read and hear this stuff and it makes me want to cry, I just don't get why someone could do that to any living being.

And to Si Veloz,

You said exactly what I wanted to but with much less words.
I agree with you wholeheartedly.

i hear ya Michelle..
i can't even watch those Humane Society commercials..
if i did i'd have a lot more than my 3 cats and i'd have an empty bank account..

well said yourself Matt..
there will never be too many words when it comes to an issue that is ignored so blatantly by so many with the power to change things..

another prime example of our beloved "leftist" governments ineptibility..
suffer the victim, and let the violater relish in his actions..

Your right more fines and longer jail sentences...what they hand out today is ridiculous....just a slap on the wrist for the poor suffering of a helpless animal. Its distgusting.

People take pets/animals for granted.

What gets me, are the ones who find humour or pleasure in torturing them.

Nevermind cruel, that's downright evil.

I don't understand what drives people to do such things.

I'm all for tougher sentences for these bastards.

Another thing that bugs me, are people that make joking remarks regarding stories of animals being tortured/murdered... in my presence.
