sounds like my 5sfe celica....

all sorts of power and reliablilty...as well as rattles and knocks that are "unloacatable" and leaks that make NO SENCE AT ALL!

i think i have no leaks now but i hink that i will ahve to re build the bottom end (bearings sound messed i think)

yeah...see that's one thing about all engines... regardless of how fuct they are, they are pretty hard to kill altogether. I mean, something really savage must happen for an engine to lock up totally and not start. I had an old Crown Vic, the thing was a tank, but every morning, I pump the gas a couple of times, turn the key, and it would come alive with a slight 5.0 L rumble.

mine doesn't puff a drop of smoke i think it might be worth saving but its a 1.5 litre id rather o z6 or something you know !!!!!! just chews through coolant and oil like a 50 year old oil tankner!!!!!!

just an update !!!!

the knocking sound is worsening !!!!!!! the water pump is going to let go soon !!!!! power to the 10 mm bolt (which i have utmost respect for) thats holding the water pump impelar on that shaft!!!!

and a side note!!!

i have spent the last 50 000 KMS beating the living **** out of this motor!!!!! only now when its on its way out have i adapted the no going over 3000 rpm rule!!!!!!!! i think im gonna keep a spare engine in my trunk and drive this one till it dies then change it out on the side of the road!!!!!!!!!!
