Almost got hit by Whitby Transit this morning

Had just dropped off the kids at their grandparents, wife and I are off to work. I am at Hickory and HWY 2 at the lights waiting for it to change. So the lights turn green, I start out. Usually I will just go, but I hesitated and caught the bus in my peripheral vision, doesn't look like it's slowing down, and its not like he is trying to beat the yellow because it has alreay been red on his side for a few seconds already. Buddy just blazes through the light! I hit the brakes and blow my horn. He didn't flinch, just went on his merry way. I was so pissed the whole way to work. Wife was upset and glad nothing happened and glad the kids weren't with us.

So I call Whitby Transit, tell them what happened, what time and the bus number and where it happened. They tell me they will make a report. They take my work and home number and say someone will be getting in contact with me.

If I don't hear from them within a week, I am sure as hell calling them back!

Brian, let's invite that driver to a KBBQ and when his guard is off, let's cook his face on the grill.

But that's the thing, his yellow was long gone, he was totally oblivious to what was going on. There was even a car in the other lane stopped well before the bus even got to the intersection!

ahhh yes, peripheral vision is my best friend. so good y0!

glad to hear nothing happend to you and your family B, and I hope you get a satisfactory result out of it all... in whatever way that may be. - maybe an apology?

anyways, the worst is travelling on the 401 at night... and I mean like between 1-5 AM weekdays especially. there is nothing but truckers doing like 140 and you are but a zit on the face of the planet as far as they are concerned. I mean, they roll up on your bumper like 6 feet away doing 140 (and I'm doing a 100 which is prolly why this happens to me all the time) and then swerve around you as if your were an intruder. then I had one guy in a construction zone (80 limit) so I was doing 80, and there were like 10 trucks behind me by the time we were done going through. So 9 trucks pass me and keep going at crazy speeds, and this one truck decides to get behind me at like 3 feet away, throw his highbeams on and follow me for a good period of time going 100. so first exit I see, I get in the off ramp lane, and the ****er waits to watch me exit (he slowed down to like 50). the second he passes me I swerve back onto the highway and he SLAMS on his brakes and puts on his reverse spotlights.

anyways knowing trucks are limited to 70 mph, I figure **** this idiot, so I passed him and when I got enough distance, I just kept 70 mph pace so he couldn't close the gap. that was the first time in years I was speeding, all cuz of some *******.

You know what? You are right! I will be calling them tomorrow to see what is being done.

Yeah Bruno, I don't expect much, but an apology is good enough I guess. I just couldn't let that go by without doing something, I haven't been that angry in so long!

Shar, that was the first thing that came to my mind after the ranting I did in the car on the way to work. Once I calmed down, sort of, I felt the need to do something about it and that just came to mind, calling the transit and complaining.

Good that you were able to get the bus number and all that. I was driving into work and was making a right hand turn on a green light. A TTC bus was making a left hand turn onto the same road I was turning onto. He decided that he was more important and turned directly into the right hand lane (that I was turning into) towards the side of my car (I was almost around the corner). If I hadn't hit the brakes, he would have taken me out. I did read the number of the bus and tried to remember it (I couldn't find any paper - I carry it & a pen with me in the car at all times now), but by the time I got up to my desk, I had forgotten it. Everytime I see a bus there now, I keep a really close eye on it.

From my experiences, buses and 18 wheelers and people with Trucks think that they can do whatever they want for some stupid reason

theres a bylaw in toronto now that says you have to yield to TTC buses

and a good 75% of them will cut you off without looking because of that

Raise Hell Double B!! Glad to hear you're alright though. Stay on it too, because most of those bus drivers think they own the road. Don't let them get away with it, we need more people reporting these fools. Hopefully they have someone who cares for the public handling these types of issues, if not, then it'll be a slap on the wrist... if even that.
