Photoshop? Illustrator? In Design? Quark Express?

Is that what you have in mind?

well maybe an older version does this cuz I took graphics in school and we used photoshop and never had any concerns about blurry text...especially when used with a laser printer...I dont even have blurry problems with my inkjet and photoshop

Guys guys guys! You're both right in some ways. Photoshop renders text only as good as the resolution you create the image at. Newer versions (read 5.5 and above) of Photoshop retain the text in its original scalable form when saved as a PSD, but when going to print, it's all dependent on what resolution the output device and the file you've created are.

If you print a 150dpi image on a 2400dpi imagesetter, you're going to see blurry text. Running a 300dpi image on a laser or inkjet will be fine from Photoshop as long as you don't scale the image up. Remember, Photoshop works with raster images! ALWAYS ALWAYS use a program that retains the vector form of the type if you want clear type (i.e. Illustrator, QuarkXPress, InDesign).

For on-screen use like Anthony wants, Photoshop will do fine.

Now stop your bickering!

Photoshop messes up fonts, Illustrator doesnt.
Reason is Photoshop converts text as a picture, wheras Illustrator doesnt.
I learned that in my advertising class and learned the hard way.

But for minor things I wouldn't worry too much.
