I told everyone they should be better than last year, but not to consider what they did in pre-season anything. Did they listen to me? Other than you Steve, no they didn't.

9 new guys on a team makes it difficult to be better instantly. They need time to gel. Also, I don't believe the coaching is doing them any favours. I predict that he will be gone by next year, if not sooner if this team doesn't do significantly better than last year. This doesn't mean make the playoffs, but record wise and other things. I am sure they have some kind of 2 year plan on growing this team and helping them develop into a run and gun team, but you need defence and some sort of play when coming down, which I do not see at all, even in their wins.

My two cents.

Hey man, I didn't disagree with ya, we were pretty much on the same page, even though you aren't into Basketball.

Yep. Everyone got excited with pre-season. No one plays in pre-season. Anyhow, they need to play better defence and they need to have a better structured offence, even for a run and gun offence, you still need to have something in place. They are getting killed every game in the first quarter and always playing catch up.

Basically fast breaks when you get the ball. Get to the basket as fast as you can and take a shot. That's it. If there are no options, they you go into your set plays, which imo, they have none.

We will have to hook up again and I can explain it all to ya buddy.

Your leaf's are look actually pretty good btw...

last nite's game was great... 'til the 4th quarter.

though quite a few things were of note:

1. bosh ripped bargnani's head off for getting beat on a rebound. precisely what he has to do - get on his teammates for not doing the right things.

2. where's the "phoenix" style play? i hear all about this 'get a shot off in the 1st 8 seconds of the shot clock', but all i see is horrible 1/2-court sets. calderon and ford have to start passing that ball up-court and push!

3. the excessive 3-point shooting has to STOP. way too many missed 3-pointers in the 4th. i remember reading somewhere that the basketballs at the acc have an inscription on them: "if found, please pass to chris bosh."

well it will take them some time to get comfortable with each other, and play as a group.

i dont know why but for some reason most games are on rapsTV, so i have only watched 1 game so far.

and they will lose next 3 games, it will be soooo hard for them to beat those teams on the road, on their courts.

I agree with you 100%. Mitchell's goal is to put up as many shots as possible. Doesn't sound like Phoenix style ball. Lots of times they look undecisive when taking the shots as well.

I will say it again, I think the coaching staff needs to be shaken up. It's still early yes, and they do need to gel, but they aren't even playing proper defence. I don't care what style basketball you play, you don't play defence, you are screwed.

Mictchell has no excuse this year. All the positions that they needed to be filled have been filled. Colangelo did his job. Mitchell isn't.

Even so, you can see things in their play that is consistant even with last years play that comes into effect. I am not concerned with the players they have, what I am concerned with is who is coaching them.

We will see.
