if your HD set isnt 120hz you aint ballin' and your picture aint as clear as it could be...
...I just picked up myself a 40" sony bravia xbr and now I can see the difference...movies just look so "real" now...so much depth!
I dont think I can go back to anything else now

Q: I’ve been reading about these new 120Hz LCDs, but I haven’t heard about plasma or DLP doing it. I’ve even read that DLP can do 120Hz. If 120Hz is so great, why aren’t these other technologies doing it too? Are they not able?
A: This is a pretty common question, given how much hype each LCD company is giving to 120Hz. Despite years of LCD companies denying that there was a motion blur issue with LCDs, 120Hz was developed to address that exact issue. When the refresh rate on an LCD is doubled, your brain is less likely to see blur. DLP and plasma don’t have motion blur issues, so they don’t need 120Hz. In addition, the way DLP and plasma create an image mean that they are not really refreshing at 60Hz at all; it’s actually much faster. Both DLP and plasma create light with time, as in each pixel only has one level of brightness, and the overall light level is determined by how many times that pixel flashes. More flashes mean a brighter pixel, fewer flashes, a dimmer one. This is done much much faster than 60 times a second.

ya no doubt the 120hz is ballin but not sure its worth the money, just bought the 52" sony Bravia 60hz and my friend and I couldnt see that big of a difference in the store compared to the 120hz except for the extra 700bucks they wanted for it. Now if you see the Demo some Tv's have that are "supposed" to show the difference between 60hz and 120hz I saw a huge difference but i think they are bias and make the 60hz look ****tier then it really is... none the less I agree they are better for sports but I dont even watch much sports lol ...

I got my tv for a grand...and its a clear night and day difference between 60hz and 120hz and between plasma...the depth and "realness" of the picture is crazy...sd content and hd content you can see a difference

the difference is huge my friend...sure they all look good but there is a "for sure" difference...especially when somebody like my sister spots it right away.
in the end though like you said "enjoy it as you watch it"

120hz FTW when you hook up the PS3 or Wii to that baby, there is a difference.
Other than that, if you don't see it side by side, 60hz is just fine.
Where the hell did you get a 40" xbr 1080p/120hz for a grand? I get a discount, and it's not as good as that (< jealous)

Unless you have low expectations when blowing up Wii for the big screen, but its suited for smaller CRT sets, or lower resolution Flat Panels.

Good kill. $1000 for that TV is a sweet deal.
But...
Plasma>LCD
An LCD can refresh as fast as it can, but the picture still isn't as good as a plasma. Just my opinion though. Everyone likes what they like.

I really wanted a plasma but I wasnt gonna get a 3000buck plasma for 1000bucks...if it wasnt for the 120hz I really wouldnt have wanted it but I just love the way it looks over plasma for movies
