I went to standard auto wreckers a few times without proper tools and i hated myself for it.... saw an H22... had no tools/manpower another occasion i saw a JASMA approved exhaust and felt dumb.... mint interiors... lips... RARE CAR parts like toyota cressida parts... next time i will never go without proper tools!

for starters a screwdriver with bits ( and maybe one big flat)... A rachet and a set of MM sockets, maybe a little hammer, needle nose pliers...

But it all depends on what you are looking for , the above should be good enough for any small job

for the first time you might wanna go in with a GYM bag like gavin said haha... a screwdriver set... ratchet set... vice grips.. basic stuff..

but yea man the scrapyard is literally a hit/miss... some days you will get pieces of cow ****... some days you will literally hit gold.... so its good to go once in a blue moon... even to pick up some parts for some rare cars... its good to keep on hand cuz people look for them... and if u see any acura leather in good condition... guaranteed somebody will pay you for it..

The ones that i ve been in you just go in and you pay once you go out... Also a lot of parts are already taken out by the scrapyard and sell separetely ( mostly the good parts ex rims)

The prices are somewhat cheap , it really depends on the scrapyard i guess..

Also a lot of yards have online inventory and sales person that you can email if you are looking for a specific part

When i bought my fender , i emailed a sales guy and he had it ready for me to pick it up

Honestly i think email is the best option .. But you can try calling them , that is if you already know what you want

Some people just like going to see what they can find which is kind of cool too.. You walk in not knowing what goodies wait for you there

Ohh and Stabdard is the best, in the summer they have all you can carry days, on those days I go with at least 1 other guy, one carries tools the other parts.

I usually go to standards only when i need something that i know will be there. H22 you saw????? That will never make it to the yard and also they take the ecu's. There is an employee that works there who takes the good parts before they reach the yard. He's a Honda guy so he knows what he's looking for.

Standard is crap now, it use to be good 10yrs ago but not now.
