Question Where can I get things hot tanked?

I just picked up a some brake components - rotor, caliper, trailing arm and this and that... They are dirty and I tried to cleaned them, but it has a lot of grease on it that I just can't wire brush off.

I have read in Honda Tuning regarding a brake conversion and the guy got the parts hot tanked to clean everything. Anyone knows where in TO I can obtain such service?

Thanks

Charles, there is a local shop that does this. I'll be heading to Hansens and I'll inquire for the location..

Great idea to convert your rear brake drums into disc... suggestion: Would not re-use old rotors, also since you did pick those up, make sure you have brake lines or else they won't work.. also would suggest to upgrade to steel brake lines...

Many thanks guys. JC, if you know the info, please pass it on to me, appreciated.

Jay, yes, seems like the brake lines are cut so I will need new ones (I believe it is cut because the end looks slanted and I don't think OEM came like that). After hot tank and clean all the grease away, I will prepare to get SS brake lines and other things. I got front and back all together so I need to get a lot of new parts. But it is something I will collect over the winter and get the parts cleaned up, so when April hits again, I will have the brakes and suspension all changed at the same time, plus the front sway bar (and whatever else I pick up over the winter :P)

Thanks again guys.

Oh, and anyone know how much hot tanking costs? It is per item or per time or per load (like how big your thing is)? I got 4 in total.

when i needed serious degreasing for me engine swap i bought some industrial strength degreaser from princess auto. A four litre jug was 12.99 and i didn't even use half to degrease my whole car. This stuff is extremely potent. If you don't wear gloves it will eat your skin, but it goes through grease like a hot knife through butter. It may be something to consider.

Charles, the stuff Brett mentions does work. It is very caustic but it removes grease and baked on oil upon contact. You could use that with a decent spray bottle. Strongly recommend use of goggles and gloves with this stuff. I missed heading getting to Hansens before they closed. I'll try them on Monday and let you know anyways.

Roger that my friend! Thanks! I PMed Leitner and see if he can offer me a deal. Otherwise, I will go to Princess Auto and check that stuff out! (where is it again? I sware I saw it one day when I drove by some place... is there only one of it?).

Do I need to place it inside a huge bucket or just put it on the garage floor, and then water out the solution?

I used a spray bottle and various rages and scrub brushes then rinsing with water. Id offer you a litre of mine for free cuz i have tons but its would probably cost you more in gas to come and get it! Check out the princess auto wbsite for locations. I don't that pimpin guy is about rear disc are definetly worth it.
