i have a 99 civic si, it has 140,000 on it...kinda high for that year, but it was maintain with scheduled maintainance and regular oil changes(i have the records to prove this for future sale) so it still runs perfect.
Honda is probably the only company i would buy a used car from that was over 100,000km, thats just my own opinion of the cars they make, i find them just better than most other cars on the road.
I was a chevy man before with my little s-10, which i still love, but domestics just won't last as long as Hondas
i don't know, i'm rambling now

I'm at 230,000 on my engine ... and it gets raced during the summer (in solo 2) and sees the rev limiter on many occasions...
I'm hoping it lasts till 500K.... who knows... when it breaks it breaks...

Honda engines last forever, provided that they're well maintained. If that car you want to buy was well maintained, then you shouldn't have any problems!
Are you looking at a particular model/year in particular? Just curious.

i replaced my engine when it reached 315,000 i bought it when it was around 30x,xxx with the stock engine... but it really depends on how u treat your car right now the body has exactly 351,000kms on it..

My buddy has a '92 Accord with 438,000 KM's on it, and that things runs smooth as hell. He's babied that car so much, there is hardly any signs of engine problems, the body is in good shape with minimal body rust.

one of my best friend 350,000km 99 Si
my car 222,222km 98 Si.
although he started consuming oil at 300,XXX he never used synthetic.
mine hasn't consumed yet but I use Castrol Syntec and recently switched to Mobil 1
Both cars are smooth. BUT you will find squeeks in EVERY honda car as time goes on HAHAHAH!

for those of you that use synthetics, do you change your own oil or get it done at a garage, and if its at a garage do you just bring your own oil...do they let you that?
I'd like to switch to synthetic but I don't really want to change my own oil

$10 bucks and Active Green and Ross do it for you.
Buy Mobil 1 from cdn tire. or Castrol Syntec. or look at our affiliates like Altech for Amsoil and others. $24 for 4l+
Filter, I still don't know which one is preferred. I like to use OEM ones for now until there is a dead winner. $5-10
BUT better to do it earlier than later. If you've been using conventional oil, chance of leaking when switching to Synth. So a search on the forums, then decide. I don't think it's wise for higher mileage civics, but then again, PunkinDrublic's done it and he's fine.

well i am only sitting at around 140,000, i wouldn't really call that high mileage...yet.
but i will check into that, there is a active green and ross in pickering, which is convienant.
why would it leak?

What's with all the high milage 99 SI's here?! lol
And 140k for a 99 is still fairly high since the average is about 20,000km's per year so you should be sitting more around 80k.
