Bimmers are wicked...

if you have a 6 digit income to fix them

step dad has a 79 bimmer, good car no rust but it just sits there, i'd take it but it would be cheaper for me to buy a gen 4 civic put a zc motor and full leather than it would for me to fix the bimmer, plus they are slow, and HORRIBLE in the winter.

if you can pick one up for cheap i'd say get it. make sure it's running good, if not drop an m3 motor in there and your done(not sure what these motors go for though). my dad just picked up an '86 325 for 8bills. runs great and no rust.

late 80's to earlky 90's bimmer's look good with a drop and 17's. sweet ride if you just want to look pimp and be able to say you have a bimmer.

Notorious for electrical gremlins....

Real BMW service will kill you in labour...

If you got the money though...

Why not...

BMW's are amazing but the 318 is quite possibly the worst car they ever made. It is, in my opinion, the worst looking BMW snd vastly underpowered.

Well im a mechanic so labor dont bother me. And my friend has a 91 318i lowered, 6 cylinder, header, short throw, and he has catalogs with tons of kool stuff.

The on im looking at is a 84 318i running and no rust for 3000.

The older bimmer tend to break often. My friend has an older model bimmer, not sure on the yer but after one item beaks, it causes a chain reaction. If you have money to repair it when it breaks, I would go for it!

If you have a good hookup for parts and can do the labour yourself, then you might consider it. Just beware, as mentioned above, when things do go wrong, it can get really expensive. I know from the experiences my friend has had with his 96 M3 as well as his previous 328.

if its the old style 318i(2.0 motor i think) then they are so much fun. fairly light too. i know a guy w/one. he said like 100hp or something but it moved very well. and RWD brings its own fun
