Unmarked SUV cop car sighted!

I was driving westbound on Steeles ave around 12AM Saturday night when I saw a car pulled over by an unmarked SUV cop car.
They were in the east bound lane just east of Brimely.

Wow... I had no idea that cops had unmarked SUVs... I'm not that good with SUV makes/models, so I can't offer any information, except that it was NAVY blue, and it had silver/metallic trim.

Makes me wonder what other unmarked cars the police have....

Windsor police has Unmarked silver Chevy Ventures, Ford F-150, green & white Impalas, blue camaro and various coloured Jeeps. Then they have marked Doge Durangos, Ford Expeditions and the typical police cruisers.

Do you know what kind of undercovers the Metro Toronto Police have?

Since I primarily drive in the city, I think I should be aware.

Also, do these undercovers do routine patrol, or are they usually used in "special" situations only?

For instance, if I'm doing 70 in a 60 zone will these guys pull me over, or are they waiting to blow their cover only when they find a guy doing 100 in a 60???

Sorry, I'm from Windsor so I monitor the squad cars and I travel Huron Church everyday and thats where they use their undercover cops a lot. If in a city like Windsor, they usually don't care about people doing 10-12 over the speed, but after 15, ur really increasing your chances of getting pulled over. I think in a city like Toronto, (u guys drive a lot faster than Windsor drivers), I think u could pull off 15 w/o being noticed too much. Just keep your eyes open and look around for these undercover cops. Also, as always, drive carefully

cops are cool in my book anyways, I never have problems with em...I dont drive like an ***...I obey majority of the traffic laws etc. never been pulled over unjustly...and hell a cop let me off completely for doin 135kmh on the 401 to windsor with expired tags and no proof of ownership or insurance in the car!

cops=cool with me!

Shieeet....

That's soooo lucky.

Either you must look like a:

1) pregnant mother
2) a clueless granny

Or you slipped the cop a large bill!

I get nailed for stupid things like forgeting register the colour of my car after a paint job. An no, I don't drive outrageously fast, nor drive like an ***....

I partially agree....

In some ways the cop do protect us, but it seems to me, at least half the by-laws are just designed so that police force and the city have a revenue stream...

For instance, getting ticketed for driving 120 on a 400 series highway. When it's quota time, you'd better watch out.

Another example is stop signs...
The spirit of the stop sign is to govern right of way at intersections and protect pedestrians. If the intersection has good lines of sight, a rolling stop will suffice in a safe entry of the intersection... Instead, if you're caught, it's another fine.

agreed by-laws are money makers for ur specific municipality.....however the HTA, and Things That Govern Speed Etc....Etc. . are fair game and should be obeyed....cause they are in place for personal saftey and most speed limits are set up properly to help when accidents do occur to lessin injury etc. . .

how does the police instill responcibility?? they break there rules and do whatever they want... all the beatings of minorities, corruption within the ranks...

and about speed limits, check out the maximim's in europe... the one i know of off hand is itally where the highway speed limit is 130 and of course the autobahn... and they have a hell of a lot less accidents per car then we do here.... i dont think safety is the speed at which a car is going but who's sitting behind the wheel... they should waste there money on driving skill training rather then ticketing the people who know how to handle there cars well above the posted speed limits....

or start something like in japan where cars that are so old are off the road... that will boost the economy mostly the automotive one cause people will have to buy new cars ever 5 years or so... although i suppose places like crappy tire would suffer cause nobody would be coming in for low quality parts for there old corsica's or tempos....

Police instill responsbility within one by making one think of their own actions and reprecusions of those actions........

Europe is a whole different country then ours...lol plus they don't have as many economy sized compacts as we do........they have built up tank vechiles that can take accidents...lol not lil civics that zip around and bend and break when hitting a pole at 45km/h.....lol and i guess our gov't or established rule making body takes into consideration the saftey of there ppl....like they should and set up speed limits to limit regulate traffic, accidents, fender bender incidents.....though i agree we do have more accidents because of this......probably because we have crappy drivers behind the wheel....which takes me back to ur point of making better driving courses....to teach us how to drive better....lol i guess we all need to learn how to drive more responsibly......then maybe one day they'll raise the speed limits on us.....hahaha not likely.......but still......hahaha

europe doesn't have economy cars? what are u smokin, cause i wouldn't mind takin a hit!!!!
almost all cars in europe are econo boxes. i'm gonna take a wild guess and say you've never been there. most cars there are smaller than civics, like mini, seat, peugout, citoren, toyota, smart. all these companys cars are small things, and you'd probably have a better chance at surviving in a civic.and don't forget that most european roads are like 1/3 of the size of ours, so having a huge "tank" is kinda impossible to drive there
