Tiger Japanese Auto

Hey all,

I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with Tiger Japanese Auto? I am thinking of picking up a tranny from them. They are giving a 3 month warranty, but like you all know, until the tranny is not in we can't be 100% sure of the condition.

Please share your experiences. As well, is there anyway to be 100% on the type of tranny I am getting. I want to make sure it is a Vtec tranny before buying it.

Thanks for your help

I bought some stuff from Tiger couple of months ago, it's a Mitsubishi engine, & i did not have a good experience & the engine i got wasn't the one i picked & not the best in town..Plus some of the guys in there has some chip n their shoulder bro..they act like Tiger is the only place where u can get parts...Had i not give them my money and info yet, that motha***** woulda tasted that chipped he's been carryin..I gues u just gonna have to actually watch them put the actual engine on their delivery truck....my advise to u bro is to just take a visit look up your options & let them know that u r the customer..

i think there was a story on here sometime before that a mechanic ordered a motor from them to swap into his customer's car. but the motor came with lots of missing parts. tiger promised to bring them in the next day, but never did, and very very long after, they did bring in the part, but it was the wrong part again. they refused to give any money back and gave the mechanic all the wrong parts and also didn't provide all the necessary parts. it was a mess or something...

you can actually do a search

Tiger Japan folks are ****** for sure.. I've bought several engines and many parts from them.. You have to be pushy back to them.. When I did the H22 swaps, I went in and hand picked the engine/tranny. Then I went around the other motors and pulled all the necessary sensors, wires, clips, etc and told the guy straight out.. It's all needed and I ain't paying any extra..

He'll argue, oh no, extra $100.. To which you respond, you know what, forget the whole deal.. You want to sell proper engines, then you need have all these parts too. They try the tactics on you but in the end will sell you the part because it's garanteed money for them and they have boat loads sitting around...In the end, you also offer cash no tax and they likely. I remember my first H22, I went back like 3 times to get diff ecus and harrassed the **** out of him until he gave it to me.

The ideal situation is to tell them you want the motor out of the front clips! Don't just ask.. Tell him you wanna see the motors and go to the back where all the stock is. I got one of my engines that way.. Confirmed mileage and everything.. Paid him an extra $100 to know for sure what I was getting was decent.

I personally would never get any mechanical work there. I don't trust them at all with that kind of stuff. Ghetto styles all around in there..

Definitely a good place to shop for the do-it-yourself-er who aint afraid to argue and haggle ..

I almost walked out of there with a h23 DOHC vtec having only paid the price for a F20B DOHC vtec lol!

The guys in the back dont know much at all, they rely on their little black book that tells them what everything is, and has prices for them.

They treat the engines really bad, they tried to sell me a h22 with a broken valve cover, and you could see grass and dirt inside of the cylinder head!!!!!!!! LMFAO!

Caveat Emptor

Some of my friends have bought motors from there and received great service and great prices. Never had a problem with quality of the motors.

Again, if your a newb with engines and don't have the nads to haggle and argue stay away from this place.

My input above applies to all shops. If you're going to fork out anywhere from $1000 - $5000 on a engine, you damn well better be able to pick it out, inspect it and walk away with the expectation that it's all in good working order.

i went there to buy axles for my girls teg. in the end i had to go back 3 times becuase they gave me the wrong one. so i went to standard and grabbed one in better condition then wat they were giving me. i have delt with them many times and they are goofs. they know nothing and thats why i stopped going to them. stay away if u know wats good for you because they are money hungry and once they have it they dont give a f*ck about you. just a word of warning. pay the extra money and guy with someone reputable,

tiger

Looks like I'm staying away from them. I originally was skeptical about going to them cause the guy on the phone was a little rude and didn't sound like he was interested in answering my questions.

I can haggle and speak up, I wont take **** from them, but why go through that. There are many shops out there, if anyone can recommend a Japanese Importer please let me know.

Thanks

not that bad of an experience but they're noobs and they're definitely not japanese to whoever said they're from japan. ou have to give them attitude to get what you want. t e k n o t i k is a better choice for motors and parts.
