sisley honda screwed me

You should never get your brake rotor machined IMHO, because
1) The labour cost of machining a rotor is more expensive than replacing one, because it's basically the same job, but machine it requires additional labour, but even OEM Honda rotors cost like 100 bucks per pair, but for each rotor, most dealership will charge you at least 30 bucks to machine one rotor, to be clear, it's 30 bucks just to machine it. Then a machined rotor will be more likely to get warped far sooner than when it's thick, which means for a shorter period of time, you need to replace your rotors, because a rotor can't be machined too many times. So you might be better off just spend maybe 100 bucks more just to replace them with new ones.
2) an Aftermarket rotor for Honda is pretty much the same as OEM ones since there's so many aftermarket parts for Honda on the market, they are cheap too, replacement cost is low. So why not replace the rotor with new aftermarket ones.
so why machine them?
Regarding dealership rip people off, I just think all mechanic has to make some unnecessary repairs or replacements to get enough money to run their business.
Imaging who is paying for a nice new showroom, new floor, new repair facilities with new tools and machines, it's you. Dealership generates more money out of sellig Used cars and selling maintance packages to keep them alive. I don't mind they charge for more labour or price things higher, because they spend more money ont he facility and training their staffs with expertice in Hondas, but doing unnecessary repairs without asking for permission is just not right.
As I said, they are charge more money to get the same job done as in some local garage with cheap labours, it is something everyone has to expect when repair their cars int he dealerships, but they should do what they supposed to do and provide good customer service and make their customer satified with their repair work.
I think alot of people don't quite understand why a Civic is good, it's not because it's the most reliable car, it's not because it's cheap (Use civics ain't cheap at all), it's not because they are fast (a engine without torque)
but a Civic is designed to be so simple and it's just so easy to work on it without too much of knowledge on cars.
just open the hood look how simple the engine bay is.
It tells you that you should work on it yourself.
Engine oil change, brake pads replacement, most oil and fluid changes are so easy to do....
and a Honda's engine is pretty tough, so what else you need to do, Civic's spark plugs doesn't have sensors, which is easy to replace.... it's just so simple you would be admired when you can finish alot of regular maintance on your own.
so work on it as much as you like, and otherwise, you have to expect to be ripped off, because it's not something you are experienced with..

I used to work at Sisley Honda. I got fired from there because my boss, Ian Daniels figured out I was sending people to my sister's boyfriend shop, Freshway Auto and Performance. I figured out their price list for detailing and all of that for three months I was there. When I brought the cars back from getting washed I put our business card in the car when I got out. I put it in a place where they would notice it. I stuck it on the steering wheel. The point being is they charge to friggin' much for stuff we can either do ourselves or be lazy and take it to them for. As for their expertise most of the so called "mechanics" there. The young ones only went through a 4 week course to know some of the basics and still while I was there I noticed alot of f-ups. I mean small things customers complain about like CD players not connected properly. Even some of the smart customers who know Honda vehicles notice stuff like stuff in the engine bay not grounded well. A whole bunch of stuff. So the next time you have problems with your car call me because I will make sure you are not charged an arm and a leg.

I work on Brian's car (Civic_Nation) at my shop. I put in his Short Shifter that he won from Cayuga, did an oil change with new oil filter, rotated his tires, Aligned his steering properly, Changed his air filter, and top up all his fluids in his vehicle and I only charged 60.00. If that was at Sisley he would have paid 150.00 easy so. I am looking for the business please if you are too lazy to do it your self call me at 905 882 4327 and I will set up an appointment for you to get your car fixed and I set up with my sister's boyfriend to give anyone from Toronto Civics to get an automatic discount once they come to the shop.

I got my car at North Markham Honda cause my buddy worked there. The salesmen and people are nice, but one thing with, if not, all dealerships is that the Sales Department and Service Department are two different departments. One does not associate with another. With that being said, you could very well be happy with their customer service when buying a car but their service can be a total ***.
My friend, at Honda, told me not to bring back my car to their Service Department. And this was not just one person, but 3 to 4 people have told me that. It took North Markham Honda a month to buy me a plum colour touch up paint, and it was a more reddish colour, it didn't even fit the colour description...
Ya one time, this girl advisor called me and told me this and that, blah blah blah and everything will end up close to a grand and I said no way. Just do the inspection and that's it. She told me there are only like 30% of pad life left and this was like a year ago, and my breaks are still working fine???
Mind you, my pads are since day one, they have 96000 on them. No sounds, breaks good as well.
My another friend is a Director at this local garage and they have a couple good machanics. One of this old dude, he truly knows his ****. This guy has a lot of knowledge in cars and that's the kinda people I would trust my car with.
Bottom line, find a reliable shop and service your car there. Do regular fluid check up yourself and knowing when it is time to do the necessary change. We should be thankful for our wonderful Civics being reliable and cost effective. So, let's keep it that way.
