Sir

I'm thinking about buying a 99-00 SIR. I currently have a 98 si. I was wondering what the dependibilty are of the b16. The same as my current engine? Which is the stock d16ya or whatever it is. And the difference between the two is side sills painted the same colour, rear disc brakes, and the b16 engine. Am I missing anything?

Holy crap....everyone is buyin 99-00 SiR's right now! lol.

I drive an 00 SiR. They are as reliable as they come. Do your typical maintenance and oil changes and it'll last a long time.

Because they prices have dropped off, they are an excellent car for the money. Nice looking, reliable, good on gas and well optioned. Keep it bone stock and it's a great daily driver, or if the mod bug bites, there is a ton of aftermarket support.

It still lacks one crucial thing though....

LOL true...

But it does have the little B16 that could.

One of the best engines of it's time IMO. Most cars even today still can't match it's naturally aspirated 100hp/L. With the exception of the new Si, S2K and toyota 2zz (which is now gone).

Differences from Si to SiR (99-00):

B16 engine
different seats
DOHC VTEC sticker on sides
SiR gauge cluster, badging
body coloured front lip, side skirts, rear licence plate mount
15" Enkei aluminum rims

Someone please add or correct me if I'm wrong...

SIR also came standard with ABS, A/C and the moonroof. The seats were more supportive and the interior was charcole instead of grey. The cluster and gauges also lite up amber instead of white.

Here is an article about the car.

Mine doesn't have ABS. But then mine was originally born as a usdm Si, aka, a cdm SiR.

Really. Then they wouldn't be legal in Canada. Amber signals only.

Also it has 4 wheel disc brakes. I believe the Si still had rear drums.
