Shop Inquiry?

Hi, I am looking to getting a swap done on a 90 civic. I need your guys help on finding a good trust worthy shop were i can get this done. I am looking into the b16's. Does anyone know of a shop where i can take my car and how much it would cost me. Also how good are these swaps, because i will be using this as a daily driver and putting close to 100kms a day. Is this a smart chioce for me. Also how good are the zc swaps. any responses would be much appreciated.

Thanks

KSR......KSR.......KSR........i beleive he has a deal with the TCC...he did my swap with a b16 into a 91HB and i had no problems with install at all....
I can't remember how much it cost but he gave me a good price...
And yes that will be a good swap for daily driving, in Japan 4th gen civics do come with the b16 anyways.

I was just curious as to how long does it normally take for any of the shops to do an engine swap? What's the average cost as well?

My thought is to become a TCC member because for $30 bucks you will get the TCC discount at KSR or RT. I am waiting for my membership card so I can go and see which shop offers the best value for my dollar.

As for the question on how long it takes.....about 3 - 4 days I hear. As for price....that ranges....need more info on what engine you are looking at and what year of civic it is going into

RT Motorsport all the way. RT works on some of the FASTEST cars in Toronto and Many of our club members cars. If you gonna be dropping a Motor into your car don't go the cheap way cause your just gonna have some CRAZY *** problems to deal with.

Just remember you get what you pay for.
If you wanna talk or see some of there work contact myself (Richard) or OcTaNeTeDdY (Ray) were there about 3 days a week just to chill. HEHEHHE

you should be able to drop in any B series without any problems at all, take your pic any B18 or B16 good luck

you could drop in a Prelude engine (H22A) but you will need to order new engine mounts from HASports or Place Racing

most places charge between $4500+ for a complete B16A swap

I'm not totally sure about the H22 swap though

This was taken off of hondaswap.com They do not recommend any B series engine

5th gen
We do not recommend the following swaps:

B16A SiR
B17A
B18A
ZC/D16A6/8/9
any C-series motor

We don't recommend these motors for several reasons as well. These motors are OBD-0, making it a hard swap into a car wired for OBD-1. It is easier to go backwards (as in, taking a 5th gen motor into a 4th gen chassis) than forwards. Remember, its all about backwards compatibility, not forwards.
While we haven't listed the H-series motors as a non-recommended swap, we would like to say a few words about it. An H-series motor is generally 60-80 lbs heavier than a B-series motor. This adds to the already poor F/R weight distribution of Civics/Integra's. While it can be solved with a set of stiffer springs and tighter shocks up front, it is still not a good choice for an AutoX or road course car. For drag, it excels. It's heavier, putting more weight on the front wheels to help with traction. In addition to the weight factor, the chassis will need to be modified a little bit to fit it. Some things on the fire wall will need to be moved (such as brake master cylinder) off the wall. The drivers side quarter panel will also need to be dented in a little bit so the crank pulley doesn't rub.

I guess you're referring to the 1st gen b16. Actually, it's not that much work. I have a 1st gen b16 in my 5th gen hatch. And all together, it costed me about $1500 cheaper than putting in a 2nd gen B16. You must also keep in mind that the price I paid included a brand new 94 GSR distributor from Acura, a brand new 93 GSR clutch, flywheel, pressure plate from Acura. So....not only did I save $1500, but I'm also using some brand new parts when the motor went in.
If interested, then give me a shout and I'll give you a rundown of what I needed to complete the swap.

Interesting stuff ... Well, I don't think I'll be doing an engine swap anytime soon. However, just learning about it ... so when the time comes I'll have a little more knowledge. Thanks for all the information!

I'm also considering a swap, but I'm going for the ZC swap.
I"m going to have my local mechanic swap it in though.
I'd like to do it myself but I have no engine hoist...

They charge $500 for the install and I'll be using my existing tranny.

Anyone know anygood places to buy ZC engines for?
