i know someone thats blown up 2 SE-R engines b/c the cat (which is parts of the exhaust manifold) fails and chunks of it get sucked back into the engine.
The new 2.5L have major oil burnage issues. Nissan admits this, and is replacing 2.5L SER and altima engines left, right and center, i know b/c i used to work at nissan and have had to replace them.
The only way i'd buy a SE-R is if it is a spec-V b/c the 6-spd tranny is pretty cool.

IMO keep your civic... if you want more power... swap in a k20a w/ 6spd

the civic looks nicer too imo

I'm also willing to be they'll surface with electrical issues like the rest of the Nissan lineup.... in addition to all their engine issues.

^^ are such issues common across the entire model line up...or just the altima or the sentra? i drive a 05 murano and its all cool...a little heavy on the gas bill.

the 2.5 made in 06...sentra and altima are not good after about 100kms cuz they start to burn oil cuz when they we making the block...they didnt clean it properly leaving metal shaving in the block when brand new...same with the ser spec v...that motor needs better internals cuz if u have a heavy...that sucks cuz it will blow. i would stay with ur civic...or get a sentra and make sure it has warrnty.

SiR>SpecV
Not to mention the interior quality/finish of the Sentra is shatty.
But they are still okay cars IMO. But I have also heard of t he engine probs. Honda reliability is proven.

It's the Si he's comparing not the SiR. Anyways get rid of the civic and buy a 2000 Impreza 2.5RS and swap for an STI motor.

yeah im also a nissan tech and id say stay with the civic the ser spec v has a nice interior, there alittle better quality that the base sentras but the motors go for **** like nothing ....like zeeman said they do suck in the cats and chew up and blow the motor. but all said and done its not really worth the headaches of a spec v specially 2002 the first model year. id say stay with the civic its a allaround better car by far

Gotcha. Si is the better choice as well. I was just saying that the SiR would dust a sentra, the Si is a monster.

I was going to get the RS but I couldn't find one when I got me Honda.
