s2000 is not worth it new, but is a great value when purchased used. the s2k is fine in the snow, it's only crazy fwd people that think rwd and winter don't go together. you drive carefully with a set of snows and you are good to go.

I don't doubt that, but you can see a lot more RSXs out there. I don't think a day goes by without me seeing one on the street. However, I can't say the same thing about S2000s.

Personally I would not think twice and get an S2000.

I think he means if he was in the thread creators position. Not everyone has 30 grand sitting around to spend on a used S2K..

But if I did I would buy one

If you are serious about buying an S2k, buy one from the states, you can find a clean 00-03 for anywhere from 14-18Gs US, where I think is a bargain for a car like that.

The S2000 is FINE in the winter.

Get good snows.

You don't need $30K (LOL) to get a used S2000.

South of the border you can get used S2000's for under $20K CAD.

If you have $20K to spend, I'd get a C5 Corvette instead. They are GREAT on gas, can make big hp/tq with little $, and are EXCELLENT daily drivers. I'd also pick up an EG/EK Civic for a winter car for a couple of G's at the same time.

The axles on the S2000 are VERY weak, just FYI. If you pick up an early S2000 (1999-2000 production dates), I have a type-B hardtop mounting kit that I never installed in my car (gone long ago) that I'd be happy to sell to you if you plan to get a hardtop. Regardless of this, they are still VERY fun to drive and overall quite reliable if you don't drive it hard.

If you want just one vehicle and the choices are limited to those two, I'd get the RSX-S and mod mildly it to taste.

i was actually looking at dealer auctions from the states and the prices weren't all that great as you think. You may save 5grand or so when its all said and done.. but the ****ty part is. You have an american built car (which is more poorly built then canadian built cars) or atleast so I heard from a honda engineer. And you can't test drive the car or give it a complete mechanical overview before you buy it (unless you drive down there or fly) which in that case you'll spend alot more money and loose some time off work, etc.

But its up to you.. when and if I buy an s2000 ill be looking locally..

An S2k off a usa honda dealer lot is still a lot cheaper than buying one here. That's including the exchange rate, border/customs crap, and the stuff you have to meet the Cdn standard (very min. btw)

A new one with exchange is around $40k and a used one from NewMarket Honda $50k. Btw you can get a good used one from $25k to $30k from the autotrader.

It's funny that i found this thread because I'm in the same hole right now!
I'm waiting for a damaged s2K to come up on a dealer auction, get it, and fix it. THis way i can have a 2005 sk2 for about $20K.
And ya insurance in less on an S then RSX typeS and integra type R. Mostly because of who drives those cars.
I would go for the S2000 though, i don't see how its a bad DD. non practical? The fact that cars like S2k and MR-2's are not practical just make them so much better.
Plus you don't have to give people rides
definitely the S2K is a head turner...and like me..how many 17 year olds drive one
