now don't ever get that close again... the highest i've ever blown was a 0.018 and that was after 5 drinks over 3 hours or so... being a big guy definitely pays in situations like this - but it's not worth it to drink and drive just cuz of the hassle might as well just cab or wahtever. The cops were impressed and complimented me that I blew that low with a car load of drunk people - apparently most people that drive after a 'few' drinks have more than a few, get pretty drunk and just 'think' they're ok to drive and end up blowing over the 0.050 WARN level.

Your 'tolerance' has no bearing on your blood alcohol level... some people that might FEEL and ACT drunk after 3 drinks could blow under, while someone who has 'high tolerance' and might feel fine after 9 drinks might blow WAAAY over even though they 'feel fine' .

Its not worth the risk of you putting your life in danger, as well as any other innocent bystander on the road.

(Don't drink and drive.)

Good for you.. I am not opposed to drinking and driving within the legal limit. To me this shows good character as both the law and you were in agreement that you were not impaired and thus responsible in your planning.

Before you complain about 0.049 you should understand the level of impairment. I would rather someone be at that level than be tired, high, or aggressive.

What ? How did you draw that conclusion? I said nothing to that extent....All I said is... he is following the law so how can you shame him for his behaviour.

*Edit
My bad I didn't see that part where you said he was driving aggressively a few posts above. I understand now lol

why did he give u a breath alizer did u look suspicious, ur beath must of smelt like alcohol or something. In hamilton if u dont sound or look suspicious they let you go. Actually one night me and my buddy smoked a nice phatty- he was driving, he went directly through the ride program didnt stop. I dunno wtf he thought it was lmao, after wards we got pulled over and surrounded by 3 cruisers, they let us go lol. I have tonnes of stories like this, been pulled over a total of 6 times never gotten a ticket yet. I love hamilton lol seems like they always say " if we catch u another time....", and they love the fact that they they see a mcmaster id in there, every cop starts a convo about education for some reason. I have since learned my lesson!

I guess we all have horseshoes at some point.

Sorry for late reply...

Incorrect, .050 will result in 12 hour suspension and a vehicle impoundment.

0.080 will result in money lost, no driving and a ignition interlock ... if you qualify to get back on the road after a certain time....

i think if you blow .050 over they should give you the same punishment for going 50 over the speed limit. And they should set ride programs up just outside of bars.
I had a friend get killed by a drunk driver (she was in the car with him) and a he killed another friend of his, this was over a year ago and he hasn't even been sentenced, hes only gunna get 2 years. What a joke.....but if you get caugh street racing or going 50km/hr over the speed limit they stick it in you dry.
Drunk driving is completely unacceptable and should be made as socially unacceptable as street racing. Instead you hear about people and how they drove home so drunk, or how they went through a ride program and barely passed the breathalizer, makes me sick.

But it's not. Like a few other people have said, driving after one drink isn't nearly as bad as driving tired, or driving aggressivley, or DWA (Driving While Asian... lol j/k)...

I can see the view point of people who say don't drink anything at all when you drive, but to me it's all in moderation.

what about people that drive while baked? what about people that drive after they eat too much turkey and it makes them sleepy...

IMO if they are gonna start dishing out WARNs at 0.05 they should make the 0.05 the new limit and leave it at that... screw the progressive warning crap

it's true.. it's all about moderation and about how you handle it. I definately wouldn't drive after one drink, and I would blow totally under. But I have the "DWA" syndrome.

Like someone said earlier, it's not worth it driving after one drink of the worse case senario that may happen.

thanks for the info, i had no idea there was even a 0.05 limit other than the 0.08.

Absolutely have to agree, if an untoxicated driver "street racer" is dangerous and can go over 50kmh with judgement, then wtf is a drunk person behind the wheel!!!

ps: i used to drink one bottle "beer' after college everyday and then go home driving, some days i never felt a difference some days i felt a bit flimsy, so i stopped with that habbit, turned out when i was stressed tired and realy hungry and had a beer or two and then drove straight after, i felt aggressive behind the wheel and a bit tipsy, because of the adrenalin and alcohol rushing through my system. It only was one to two bottles in 30 mins, nothing big, but yea, alot depends of the mood, and phyzical condition at that time.

btw thats a lucky escape, some lessons are best to learn before they happen, good luck though and stay safe.
