lordg, I got mine in Scarborough, Roadsport Honda. They have a Black EX sedan in their showroom, I think it's a manual. Last weekend there's a DX-G sedan outside... and another 1-2 coupes. The salesman did say they have more (in storage? quota?), since their lot is pretty small due to their location .

EX is about $3500 more than the DX-G. I would start the negotiations are $26k flat.
I don't agree with all dealers having LX na EX in stock. I have already ordered an EX and I won't see it till January! So its not just the DX-G's that are on back order.

How about looking into the Mazda-3 GT. My brother got the top of the line with leather and everything for $28000 after taxes and all. Plus it's got more oomph with 160hp and more torque (forgot the figure though)

For reference, a 2006 Civic LX 4 door with 5 speed auto transmission costs:

MSRP: $21500.00
Freight: $1225.00
Tax: $3408.75
Total: $26133.75

With a trade in of a 1993 Civic EX 4 door with 298k kms, we got it on the road for $24050.00. They basically only gave us $800 for the car. It was in pretty rough shape.

The DX sucks that it doesn't have the rear 60/40 split fold seats so you have to go for the EX which is like so much more. Maybe next year Honda will feel more generous by giving every model split seats.

A year and a half ago when I was looking to get my sedan I looked at the Mazda 3. I drove it, and even though on paper it has more power than the 2004 Honda Si 4DR I didn't feel a thing. Instead I found it much noisier than the Civic and that's why I didn't buy it.
Last month I drove the 06 EX and it's a nice car IMO much nicer than the Mazda.

Keep in mind that I had a trade in. There's no point looking back, but I hope that this info helps future buyers.

Maybe the EX was a standard because that sounds too low.

Yeah that was a standard transmission. But now that u mentioned it, and just noticed u get ur auto trans @ $24000.... that's more than double as good price as mine, coz I had a tradein as well, and mine is standard transmission! oh well. Learning never pay attention to the price of something u just bought is a good thing I guess.

whatever you do, don't let them talk you into getting the extended warranty and all that crap. do you really think honda would build a car that needed an extended warranty? i've never paid for one and when the front wheel bearing in my 02 siR just went for a crap last week, i had it replaced under the manufacturer's warranty- didn't cost me a cent.

That sounds more like a reason to get an extended warranty.

The extended warrany IS the manufacturer's warranty, only you get it longer.

it is pretty unusual for a wheel bearing to go belly up before reaching 70k which was my case. the mfg warranty is good for 100k or 5 years or something like that and covers drive train and other components, but it is not bumper to bumper which is what they try to sell you and i feel it is just a cash grab. you can pay upwards of $2500 for extra warranty coverage... do you really think that you are going to have $2500 worth of problems with the car within the first 5 years? if so i wouldn't buy the car at all. i'd rather take the risk and not get anything at all, chances are you won't need to spend any money on the car for repairs in the first 5 years other than routine maintenence like oil changes, brakes, tires... not to mention it isn't all that hard to void your warranty if you start modifying the car- all that money then goes down the drain.

when they have someone at the dealership who is solely responsible for selling warranties it just raises my eyebrows at the true nescessity of it.

first off.. where id my post go???

Second thing Im gonna touch on is the post above me about the extended warranties...

$2500 eh??? the most expensive Honda Plus warranty is $1137 for the civic. And it extends out your comp ( bumper to bumper ) coverage to 7yrs 160000KMS! Thats a extra 4yrs and 100K worht of bumper to bumper coverage.

Yourright, honda builds a solid car, but think of it this way... there is approx 15000 moving parts in your car, and another 72000 non moving parts. If they were 99% perfect it still leaves 87 potential part failuers. Would rather not have the INSURANCE hat if it happens within 7yrs or 160K youll be covered? I dont belive you were explained the benifits of Honda Plus correctly, or even your warranty on your car. The 5YR 100K is a powertrain warranty,

Yu spend $1000s of dollars a year for insurance againts collision on your car, but your saying spending $1300 for 7yrs of insurance againts a broken part isnt worth it and a cash grab? Your wrong sir. Its liek the old anology, you have fire insurance on your house? Do you plan on having it burn down? Probably not, but jsut in case right? well think of it the same way... its jsut insurance againts your car breaking. It also adds the extended road side assitance plan.

BTW Mr weiRtech
Iam on of those guys who sole job is to sell extended warratines and rust proofing... so why does it raise your eyebrows? Im not sure I follow your idea of the cost and why they offer these packages... if I was buying a 2006 Civic, I would get the extended warranty package, why? Its 100% transferable if you sell the car, and if you " cant afford the extra $15/month " then you cant afford the risk of the car breaking and havng to repair it.

ALSO, if your leasing, there is even better extended warranty coverage that ever leasee should be taking on their car... but thats a whole other post...

Again... MODS, why did my post get deleated.?? origianlly about the 2006 Civics? I was just offering up some info to the members of TCC.

Firstly, your post got deleted because it was SPAM not informative! Your lucky you didn't get banned for it.

Secondly, why don't you tell these nice people here more about the warranty?? Like the fact that if you have to use it there is a deductible. That there is a significant amount of hassle in trying to make a claim under said extended warranty, and thats its not a complete bumper to bumper like the 3yr 60k warranty.

People before you buy extended, read the warranty agreement!!! Don't just listen to the sales guy!!
