Planning to get a 06 Civic, need advice on price
Ok, after many weeks of research, I've finally decided to get the new Civic as my first car. The model I'm planning to get is the Civic Sedan EX.
I checked the honda website and they listed the price to be $27,858.75 after tax and freight.
Now, I was wondering what would be reasonable price to pay for this car? Do you think I can get it for $27,000 flat?

i agree with the finance strategy... because cars are a fast depreciation item... however, its the joy/leisure of driving that you're getting in return... and those are invisible returns...
anyways, i think 27000 is not too bad so its hard to negotiate anymore further (you know for 27000, you're getting a lot of good stuff compare to other vehicles)... i say they probably give you some freebies, that's all... so go with the finance strategy instead...

and the hybrid is eligable for up to $1000 back from provincial government too for being a hybrid
With the EX, $27K should be easy to get, if not, just leave and go to another dealer. stick to your set price, start at $26,500 and expect to pay $27K. After the salesman has to check with his salesmanager, yes they still think this crap works...just leave if they won't give you the price you want.
In order to get the $27,880 they will try to throw in items, like we'll give you floormats, CD or somecrap, so also look into the accessories you'd want it that offer is made, or stick to your price. $27K is alot, so all the power is on you.

Hey guys, what about the Acura CSX. The sales rep told me the MRSP was $32,700 (after tax and freight) for the auto Touring model.
So it's basically 5K more than the Civic EX. The one thing I don't like about the Touring model is that it doesn't have a sunroof, where as the Civic EX has a sunroof. But the CSX has 155hp and looks cooler.
Do you think the CSX is worth it? or should I get the Civic instead.

is the csx available as of now?? i thought it was to be launched next year.
i am not sure about the dealer margins on the civic but when i bought my nissan murano a couple of months ago...i was able to bring the price down by approx. 10%. Later, i was surprised myself to see how much margin the dealer had. I must mention that it was also due to the fact that the sales guy was a friend and i did some cross negotiation.
Cross negotiate b/w two dealers...get a quote from one and go to the other...but dont bitch it...meaning..dont do this like over and over again...be professional at the same time...go through atleast two rounds to get quotes.
Secondly...dont negotiate on the price after tax. (Bringing the price down from $27859 to $27000 flat is not even $1000 off..it comes out to be $750). The dealer should be able to give you atleast a $1000 reduction IMO so work the numbers before tax.
I wont go for mats or any other thing they wanna throw in. The EX is pretty much equipped with everything a sedan buyer needs u know...so go with the discount.

Personally I went with an EX coupe, but the Sedan is very nice too. I think the CSX looks better, but it seems alot more expensive for a car that isn't too different then the Civic. Sure it has more features and a little more power, but for $32g's you could buy a very low K TSX.
As for the price, I don't think Honda/Acura will be very willing to budge on a newly designed car that is already very, very popular. If you don't pay what they are asking, the next person in line probably will.
In my case, I didn't get a deal on the price, but I got a good trade in for my car, my dealer tinted the windows, I received 2 new sets of OEM winter mats and I got the extended warranty. I'm happy with what I got from them.

I got an 06 Civic DX-G...i went cheap and got it for $23k flat. Thats 900 bux off MSRP, but it is still 500 bux above dealer cost. DX-Gs are selling like mad, back ordered for 1-2 months; thus driving down sales on the LX and EX. I am sure you can get a way better deal on the EX considering every dealer has it in stock.
EX is about $3500 more than the DX-G. I would start the negotiations are $26k flat.

Just a thought.

Then borrow the money at a lower rate if you can. To pay for a car in full with cash does not make sense unless you have lots of disposable cash. A car is not an investment and that total cash value will be lost as soon as he buys the car.
If you plan on keeping the car forever then I guess buying it cash seems feasable.
Just my opinion.

I have seen on the American site that the Hybrid is available there, but on the Canadian site they still show the old model.
