ok..so can the admin please explain this to me?

People often come on here, asking for the 'best place' to get a paintjob, or other work done on their cars. At the same time, others might disagree with what suggestions have ben given.

That, as far as I can tell is ok. with the admin.

Now if there is a sale happening in the city...where prices are slashed BIG TIME....for some items almost 50% off.... why can we not let people know? What is the difference with offering a suggestion to someone as to where to get their car painted...and where to buy items for our cars on sale?

If this site is truly dedicated to CIVIC owners...and we are all here for the benefit of each other...in the hope of helping one another, what is so wrong with making such a post?

In fact...how does it differ from the first kind of post.... where people need suggestions? In effect, are they not advertising as well?

Thank You.

Warrior Saint.

you are allowed to inform people of sales as well, just pm an administrator and clear it with them first. all they are trying to do is prevent buisness owners from advertizing for free and hurting the affiliates. if you are not the owner of the buisness, and have a genuine concern for civic owners, then just ask an admin.

i think the mods are trying to do the best they can to protect the affiliates and to provide the best for the civic members... sometimes its hard to tell if some people are doing private business or they are scams unless u're a reputated member and u've talked to the admin in advance...

u gotta look at the big picture, sometimes the store owners get their buddies to post on their behalf...how can u trust someone with under 20 posts.

all of a sudden they are like OHH big sale at this place....so bait

theres a difference between advertising and reffering...why not PM the person and advise them where to get their jobs done instead of making it public?

yes but c'mon, this site is for each other to enjoy our civics, if i can get a part somewhere at a sale and its not an affiliate and the dude has advised admins about it good to go. i could see a problem if the guy posts like alot then i would think he is part of a shop too, but the odd sale benefits us all.

once and a while a guy see's a sale and wants to share it, could be he saw tires on a special mothers day sale, lol

The problem was the full page ad that was put up with the original post, but george deleted it as im sure he understands where the problems come in.

Posting a thread asking if anyone is going to such and such a sale is cool but posting up a huge ad is not.

What can I say. If people think I am affiliated with PI, than let them think that. I saw a sale and thought i'd share the info. I posted the big picture, as I thought it would grab peoples attention. All I had to do was click on properties and copy and paste the url. Easy as one two three, and it came out to be a beautiful post.

Anyways...I can understand where the Admin is coming from on this one..and I thank them for their responses. People can think what they want...trust or not...I really don't care.... i'm just a simple guy who saw a sale and thought i'd share it with people.

Anyhow...i'm tired of this post.

noone is saying that we think you're affiliated..we're just saying people COULD be and that's why we ask to have it approved by admin first

haha just off topic.. warrior saint where do you teach??

I can see why the admins would not want full page ads on here from non affiliates.. its just good for the infomation not the flyer.

to add fuel to the fire. so why shoudl this hurt the affiliates?

if they cant compete in price or availability on teh same products then they have other things they need to worry about. not oh noes the big PI sale that everyone knows about cuz it happens every year i hope it doesn't get posted on TCC! NOES!

I think this has been explained, they are affiliates for a reason, they just didn't all of a sudden appear on the site. This is pretty much a dead issue. Bottom line, if you want to advertise someone's store sale on here, ask for admin's permission before posting.

Im pretty sure all of our affiliates can compete and beat any of the PI "sale" prices. The problem is that our affiliates pay to advertise on our site and that helps keep the board running, if we just let everybody post up full ads for other non-affiliated (non-paying) stores then wuts the point in our affiliates paying to advertise?
