With the lack of roof support, can you say body flex?

well not just that.... it's a hatch too!!! hatchbacks are the weakest to begin with, cuz they have that non-structural tailgate. it must drive like a wet noodle.

the roof itself has no real support for the car.

its just a piece of 18 gauge metal with 3 beams going across it that are less than 10cm thin.

a simple roll bar can replace the roof's structure and reinforce it even more.

The roof only has to connect the 4 corners to add stability. This way, one corner of the car cannot flex without pulling the others. The roof itself is not a structural part of the car, it's more of a brace / connection.

It's like when you're building a floor in a house. Without the plywood, all of the joists are wobbly, but nail a sheet of plywood down and they tighten up immensely and feel solid. It's somewhat the same concept here.

it looks good but it wouldnt drive it to hard. I know a guy who choped up a teg like that and alll the body panles wrinkled, and the doors wouldnt shut properly. It looksed like pooh after a month. He ended up pulling the motor and selling the car for scrap metal.

It doesn't look too bad! I wouldn't want it myself, but it looks well done.

i wouldnt exactly call it a brace either.
since the roof alone would be a flimsy piece of metal.
its the support beams (the super thin ones) that make the roof ridgid. its more for so birds dont **** on your head.

^^ Ha

As long as the roof doesn't deflect or stretch then it serves a purpose. Either way, a home made convertible is not rigid at all.

Ruckus, your lack of knowledge regarding structure is actually shocking.

the roof is an essential part of the cars structure.

you said:
"the roof itself has no real support for the car.
its just a piece of 18 gauge metal with 3 beams going across it that are less than 10cm thin."

this statement is so completely wrong and ignorant, I don't know where to begin. I guess I'll just go for the obvious....

if this is true what you said, then how would you explain this 18 gauge sheet of metal with 3 beams going across it holds up a car when it rolls over multiple times?? I won't go any further, this alone should make you realize how wrong you are.

lol

its not the actual roof that supports you from the roll over.
HAHAHAHA
its the pillar's.

remember the inside of the two rain gutter is what is called a roof.
i guess u lack in knowledge on that.
