I haven't seen the wording yet, but the rumour is that section 172.2, which was the objectionable section, has been significantly changed. Supposedly it now states that if a nitrous oxide system is installed on a street driven vehicle, then the nitrous feed line must be disconnected from the bottle while the vehicle is being driven.

yeah from what I read there (I'd still want the full wording of the actual law) it sounds great ... just a few weeks ago I was coming home from a meet and I found cops near my street extracting a car implanted in a bank's wall... a girl died in that.... I say down with street racers.
on another note I don't see why they street race ... solo 2 is tons of fun and you can get parts for cheap

All good, I don't use Nos anyways, just be glad they let you installed at all. Becareful where you put the bottle, if someone hit you - you won't explode.
I heard that the Cheif is trying to ban the use and selling of laughing gas (nos).

On a similar note, the largest distributor of nitrous oxide in Canada has decided to withdraw from supplying nitrous to non-medical accounts. Fortunately, there is a distributor for "Nitrous Plus" which is the proper automotive version, containing a small quantity of sulphur dioxide. This gives it a "rotten egg" smell, so if there's a leak you'll know it immediately. However, it is a slightly more expensive gas, so refills may go up in price.

i TOTTALLY AGREE that racing on a road is dumb and irresponsib;e..and absolutly no disprespect is meant to any victims of reckless driving..but even that lady killed...that is reckless stupid driving..i am talking about organized street racing..liek industrail parks at night when no one is around adn roads are closed off....i am in no way condoning this...but there is a difference between reckless driving and street racing

quick_CX ... please re read my words (which have not been edited) I said they were extracting a car from the side of a bank and that a girl died in that incident ... they must have been going at least 180+ down the street ... when I get home I'll take some shots of the accident scene and you can judge for yourself how fast the had to have been going ... or better yet come on by...
now as for that being street racing ... I dunno if it was or not I didn't see it happen and so therefore I never directly said that that incident was related to street racing, just because I finished my thought with "down to street racers" doesn't mean I was implying anything before that was street racing .... the incident I highlighted was because in the article posted said the new law would give cops the power to suspend and impound the cars of drivers that use excessive speed on non highway streets (it's quite common to be passed by people doing 100 to 120 in my area on main 60km/h zones
just some more details about the bank crash ..(before I get flamed for my judge in speed) the person hit the curb (taking out a chuck of it) then a wooden back yard fence then huge chunk of chainlink fence then crossed the main road into my sub division (a two lane 40km/h street) then hit the curb on the other side then hitting the bank wall ....leaving a good 2 feet of untouched brick under the car .... that car was flying when it hit the wall... (and I mean speed wise) ... what I saw when I went buy was the tail of the car sticking out maybe 3 feet from the wall ... and with all the stuff it collided with before hand thats some speed. but hey come out to the meet wedesnday and we'll cruise up to the spot and I'll show it too you, it ain't far from KC

It's a bit long, but here's a portion of Frank Klees' (Minister of Transportation) presentation of the new Bill 20 (replacing the original Bill 241) in the legislature today:
"The first proposal is a province-wide crackdown on street racing. Under the proposed bill, those determined to race their vehicles on public roads would face immediate seizure of their vehicle, a 48-hour licence suspension or both. These actions are designed to safeguard members of the public from this dangerous activity.
In addition, the proposed bill would ban nitrous oxide systems that are fully connected and functional in any vehicle driven on public roads. As members may know, nitrous oxide is a compressed liquid gas that can be injected into an engine's combustion process to cause rapid acceleration. The proposed legislation would still allow nitrous oxide systems to be installed in motor vehicles for legitimate use at racetracks, for example. But if you drive on public roads, the nitrous oxide tank must be visibly disconnected. A police officer inspecting a motor vehicle may take a sample of any substance that is connected to the fuel system or engine. The police would also be able to order the removal and disposal of the nitrous oxide tank.
With this measure, we are sending a clear message, and that message is that street racing is illegal, dangerous and unacceptable in Ontario."
I think the government has listened carefully to the criticisms of the original bill 241, and responded in a manner that most car enthusiasts will find acceptable.

I personally define it as one of the 3 following:
1) off the lights you race another dude with the famous look and rev first
2) you race in a drag race style race on a street that has been blocked off by fellow racers
3) you race whats known as a hat race you meet up and pick another location then try to get there first ...
either way all three are deadly and dangerous IMO
