New HONDA FIT

Hello Hello Everyone

Did anybody notice the new Honda advert in Metro (bottom of front cover) about the New Honda Fit. The ad does not reveal anything...just mentions that it is coming soon.

Honda FIT (Honda Jazz in Japan and elsewhere) is a sub-compact sedan. It has a 1.5 I4 VTEC engine which produces 109hp. It looks like direct competition for the Toyota Yaris and it sounds exciting as Honda doesnt have any presence in the sub-compact sedan category. Im not sure if they will have a coupe also but the sedan looks pretty cool.

I hope they might launch it at the auto show next month. Here are some pics for everyone to see.

I like it. I may look into getting one as an economical commuter. Probably not in the first year of production though.

i guess it competes yaris in terms of fuel economy factor...
for category, it will compete the matrix

i'm feeling it... just needs a better looking grill instead of that chrome trim with the "H" logo... there's gonna be lots of sweet parts for this car... already got mugen stuff!!!

i think i'll get it as an everyday commuter too like two years later when all the minor problems are fixed and improved. plus in two years, i'll have a more stable job... but what price range would this FIT be in? cheaper than Civic base model or more? I know civic has somewhat "up" their class to a better car... but luckily, the civic is staying consistent with its price... that's why civics are always the best selling cars =)

Its not going to directly compete with a matrix or a vibe because it is smaller, its a sub-compact. I read that it is very similar in size to the 4-door hatchback toyota echo and chevy aveo, it will be priced similar too in-order to compete.

Because the price of a base-model Civic has increased consistently on an annual basis, I think Honda is introducing this model here in-order to still see sales from that lower entry level that it has just about out-priced with its most recent line.

Here is a link to a pic that has people in it to put it in perspective:

It is interesting

What I'm really curious is what price will be since its will be Honda's econobox

My guess would be
$14K for a stripper model
$18K for one thats loaded

Anything more and their asking for trouble

HONDA FIT MAKES CANADIAN DEBUT
Fit makes Canadian debut at Montreal Auto Show

MONTREAL (January 19, 2006) – The new 2007 Honda Fit, a 5-door hatchback scheduled to go on sale in Canada on April 1, made its Canadian debut during a press preview at the Montreal International Auto Show. Fit will enter Canada's growing small car segment with class-leading feature content, refinement, interior functionality, sporty driving character and high levels of standard safety equipment.

"We believe that Canadians will be drawn to the Fit five-door hatchback knowing how much they love their hatchbacks," said Jim Miller, executive vice president of Honda Canada Inc. "And we are confident that Canadians will embrace the Fit with its unique features such as the Magic rear seat, overall quality, high level of standard safety equipment and fun-to-drive performance. In the first calendar year, we expect to sell about 12,000 units."

The Fit emphasizes style, technology and value. It features a 109-horsepower, 1.5-litre engine, a 5-speed manual transmission or an available, first-in-segment 5-speed automatic transmission. Fit features a large interior with multiple seating and cargo configurations to carry up to five adults and a wide assortment of various-sized cargo.

Fit will be offered in three trim levels with a base DX model, LX and Sport. The Fit Sport model features wheel-mounted paddle shifters (with the automatic transmission option), and includes an underbody kit, rear roofline spoiler, fog lights, security system with keyless remote entry, cruise control, leather-wrapped steering wheel and 15-inch alloy wheels with P195/55R15 tires. The Fit Sport also offers a premium 160-watt, AM/FM/CD audio system with six speakers and five-mode equalizer. All Fit models can play music through an auxiliary audio jack from portable WMA or MP3 music players, such as the Apple® iPod®.
Inside of Fit is a surprisingly large passenger and cargo space for both maximum comfort and utility. At the foundation is Fit's Magic Seatä, an innovative 60/40 split rear seat that allows the seatbacks to fold down or the seat bottoms to flip up, providing four distinct seating and cargo carrying configurations (refresh mode, tall object mode, long object mode and utility mode).

A consumer preview web site for the Honda Fit can be accessed at www.honda.ca/fit.

Honda is the world's preeminent maker of engines for automobiles, motorcycles and power equipment. With 124 manufacturing facilities in 28 countries worldwide, Honda now attracts nearly 20 million customers annually. Honda Canada manufactures the Honda Ridgeline, Civic and Pilot, and the Acura CSX and MDX at its two plants in Alliston, Ontario.
It's a pretty cool little car. The Mugen inspired ones look awesome.
w/109hp it isn't winning any races, although that's not it's intended market..as mentioned above sub-compact "gas savers" haha.

Although for those looking for a thrill a K20 has already been dropped in.
H-T has a guy who's already doing the swap, plus I forget the company, but they've already performed the feat.
