If you're just using the car as a commuter while in school, you don't plan on modifying it and you're going to sell it later, I wouldn't even buy a brand new one.

Buy a slighly used 03-05 Civic Sedan from a Honda dealer and pocket some of the cash. You'll have a nice, fairly new car to drive, insurance will be cheaper and you'll still have a nice Honda warranty.

I agree. If you just want a commuter to beat around in I would buy a Honda Certified Used Vehicle. My 2000 Honda Certified Car was pretty much spotless when I bought it. And the 7th Gens are a dime a dozen at the dealerships these days.

Also, keep an eye out for some more 96-00 (EK Chassis) Civics to be popping up now that the 8th gens are coming out. The dealer told me that everyone was holding onto their 5th gens until the 7th gens came out, so he expects the 6th gens to start coming out of the woodwork now that the 8th gen is being released.

Wow thanks guys, great suggestions, if i am buyin a used car, i'll be gettin a honda prelude, because i am only 17... i get most of my money from parents, although i do work hardcore to try to earn everythin myself, now my parents have agreed upon to get a brandnew civic, the only car they'll consider on buyin used is a prelude, depends on how much i like the car, i'll probably keep it for at least 4-6 years till i'm done university, so yea... a used civic is not possible, although i do like all the ideas that you guys are givin me, i guess we'll just have to see when the 06 lineup comes out...

Well, I don't think a Prelude would be the wisest choice. They haven't been made for a few years now. 2001 was the last year, so finding a nice used one might be diffacult. From what I've read, they are also some of the most problematic Honda's too and if you're only 17, insurance will be quite alot for you even if it's in your parents name.

Oh really... i thought my insurance would be somewhere around 200 for a civic coup or a prelude... because my friend has an 94 accord completely souped up, and it is only costin him 200 bucks a month, so i think mine won't be anymore than that

accord...4 door? each insurance is different, what colour? what model? and how long has your friend has been driving, and what kind of policy is it? 1 way? full cover? all these make a big *** difference in the price

everything matters when it comes to car insurance...i have a 05 civic coupe and i'm paying $182/monthly full coverage with statefarm and im 24...i've been driving for almost 5 yrs now, a lot of people say why is it so cheap...i just say to them to drive properly; no tickets or violations whatsoever and don't speed!

Call some insurance companies and tell them you are 17 and are buying a Prelude. Once they stop laughing, maybe they can give you a quote of less the $400 a month.
