given the same driving conditions and habits....how come civic will cost more?

435/40 = 10.9L
663/68 = 9.75L

overtime...the 6 will cost more to own and operate but you cant compare it with the civic (again like others have said)..it may be still a four banger but its bigger and heavier at the same time. both these cars are good so you gotta see what your personal choice is.

get the mazdaspeed 6 :-)

gas mileage on my parent's 6 is pretty good, at one point me and my dad decided to check it out, best we got (relatively light footed, lol) driving only in city, we got 674km, but only used about 63L when we filled up next, so that gave us 9.3L/100km

i know what you mean, but im reffering to this situtation, imagine today is monday and you filled both cars up full @ 99cents per ltr, and lets say you drive 4 days, your civic with the 40ltr is on Empty, its used up the 435km, and lets say you used up 450km on the 6.

the civic needs a refill, but the gas prices went from 99 cents to 1.40 cents, so comparing with the 6, the rest of the 28 ltrs added into the civic is on a higher doller per ltr then it is on the 6, because the 6 still has the gas from monday at 99cents, this way, the person with the 6 can also use the gas more wisely and only drive when needed. So by the time the 6 needs a refill, maybe the prices are down again, and maybe not, but in the long run adding this amount it does save money to have the larger fuel capacity if both engines are 4cycl.

Therefore the 6 would have an advantage of saving $$$ in the long run.

yes, the six is heavier, but when i drove my moms 6 it was very agile and light, maybe not compared to a civic but the weight difference is notthing when the engine almost has 50/50 hp and torque distribution at 160/155.

btw weight difference between the lightest civic and m6 is 400 pounds, and 100 pounds between both heavier ones.

outside looks are great but i prefer to be comfortable on the inside. that's where i spend the time while driving so the interior better be nice. make sure you get standard cause the auto 6 is a piece of wood. then again, i haven't tried the auto civ so maybe it sucks too!

You're joking right? Fast? Tiptronic is beautiful? Powerful?

It looks good I'll give it that, but 160hp 4cylinder in a 3000lb car is nothing to boast about, especially with an automatic. It's an ok performer but nothing super special like you're making it sound.

If it is your wife's choice, take her out and test drive both. Don't let random strangers on the internet make the choice for you.

Just don't let her ever meet my wife. You'll be looking at a new Mini Cooper then.

I couldn't agree more.

The internet is a great place to get people's opinions on different vehicles, but you also get biased opinions and improper information as well.

Let her drive each one and see which one she likes best.

Mazda 5?

I'd still stick with the Civic. Honda is offering some great deals these days on the new one's.

After driving on a regular basis through this crappy and long winter we have been having, I would even add a Subaru Impreza to the list. They start at just over 20g's.

i like both

when it comes time to test drive them them me and my wife will know which one is the best option for us

Although i must say that i like the mazda 6 on the outside better but the civic in the inside is just great

i still need to know what the insurance is like for a mazda 6, being in a superior class than a civic i m guessing insurance may be higher

i got a quote for a 2006 civic 4 door for 350 a month under my name

sorry i m not sure how my reply when to the other thread

here it is again

thanks for the link

i found excellent reviwes for the mazda 6 , no complaints , however it was mostly the 6 cylinder mazda 6 , maybe 4 reviews from the 4.

civic has good reviews too , however i found that the bad reviews usually refer to the following

noisy
gas pedal
handling

one review actually caught my attention and it refer to how the civic would be hard for a newby (new driver) to drive because of its sensitivity in the gas pedal , small rear window and sensitive steering wheel. Did anyone else notice this?

I would think the 4 banger M6 would be a total slug. Its a heavy car with not alot of power pulling it along. The Civic at least feels peppy.

I wouldn't agree to any of those reviews.

-The coupes do have blind spots due to the small side windows and rear wing, but I think you were looking at sedans. I've never had a problem though.

-Gas pedal is probably referring to the DBW (drive by wire) throttle. It can be a pain to get used to, but you do quickly. It makes shifting the manual touchy at first, but it's just different thats all. If you were getting an auto, it won't matter anyway.

-Handling is excellent IMO, especially the Si. I had an EX before and that was a great handling car too. My only complaint was the horrible tires that Honda uses. All season Bridgestone Potenza on my EX and Michelin MXM4 on the Si. They both suck. The steering may refer to the Si with it's electric power steering. It is very fast compared to the non-Si normal power steering.

Any other questions? I had the EX for almost 2 years and I think I can answer any questions.

Bro.lol those people actually OWN those cars, and they are 90% spot on, every car i have bought i have used that site, and each time the reviews have been 98% accurate.

just like humans cars are not perfect, so what i do is i read all the review of lets say a 2006 model, and see the common problems people decribe, then i see the yellow (happy customers) and blue (un happy customers) tally it up and find an average from 1 to 10, the mazda 2006 is 5 happy and 1 un happy thats 90% 9/10 and for the 2006 civic out of 28 reviews 21 are happy the rest are un happy or just not exited about the buy. it gives a 75% 7.5/10 to the civic, so the Mazda6 is far more liked by the buyers.

and like mpfive and i also said from experiance having that vehicle in the family, we are telling him what we know, different class but if i had a choice between a 2006 civic or a 2006 m6, id buy the m6 with no question.

rick10, dude seriously go to a dealership and test drive both cars, i'll bet right now your wife will choose the M6.

Good , i m wondering if you found any electrical issues with the civic , having electronic gauges and all that . Also , have you taken your car to a garage or always to the dealer. Meaning is the car easy to work on or being a new gen is this car more of a car only the dealer can work on.

as per the mazda 6 , i read many reviews and they all seem to agree that is it very fast for being a 4 cylinder , and most of these consumers stating that are people that drove accords and camrys before , so they are comapring the m6 to fast cars ( fast for their price and class)
