It looks like the MTO and police have gone too far.

Jason, they're parked out front of the Sunoco gas station/coffee shop at the corner Brittannia/Matheson and the trap is set up at the right hand side of the street you turn left on to get into Hershey.
You can also see a cop parked on the driveway of the entrance before the solo track, he's sneaky.
They were there last year too :fustrated

ohhh at that one ... really ??? well I tend to get to PITL events at 7 AM and I leave at around 5:30... seems like they can't get up early enough in the morning to catch this rabbit... either way they are informed by organizers of where solo 2 events are going to be if they chose to harass competitors then they are only wasting their own time. since it would be better for them to be else where and witht he ticket they give for nabbing someone they should inform them where to go for legal racing ... but they are a government organization and therefore not all together upstairs....

I think that the issue is not people being nabbed for illegal mods, but rather, their methodology in attempting to hand out such fines. If I'm doing something illegal, by all means pull me over. If, on the other hand, I happen to be going to the track to run my ride through, I shouldn't have to plan to be held up for two hours by the police trying to find something to ticket me for because I have a car that has a bodykit, lowered, and tinted. That is profiling and harassment. If we were, say, a group of black youths standing around talking on a street corner, should we expect to be rolled up on and searched for possibility of dealing drugs? Before anyone loses it, it IS the exact same kind of thing that we deal with in modified imports in around Toronto all the time.
For the Cops reading this, and you know that there definetly is, try finding these illegal street races and do what you are apparently supposed to be doing, stopping it. If there were someone on the force with a little common sense and authority at the same time, they would suggest allowing us enthusiasts to meet and mingle while having unmarked cars a short distance away to monitor those leaving in packs for the possibility of racing. Breaking up these meetings or hangouts does nothing but make it harder for you to keep track of where everyone is going.
Hey, maybe you could even have a few officers mingling with the car drivers at these hang outs, actually trying to meet and talk to the drivers. Hand out flyers with the "do's and don't's" of car modifying along with the references. Make this whole thing more about what P.A.C.E.R. is "supposed" to be about and less the "Us Vs. Them" that this whole fiasco seems to be.

They have NOT defined what the legalities of performance mods are. They are testing out the waters with us and the tickets. Hows an EPA ticket for a fine equal to dangerous driving, because the cop says you have a cold air intake, and isn't class A licensed or licensed to run emissions tests. How is he in a position to make that determination?

Dr. Zed,
Sounds like you've got a good idea on your hands.
But I don't agree with a darknights venue. Makes more sense to me to pick a solo1 or solo2 venue. I feel it's more of a mature crowd for starters, and allows the viewers to see we're taking our vehicles to legal, controlled events. In some viewers eyes, it may even justify some of the mods we do to our cars! It's also great exposure for the sport and might even bring in a few people that weren't aware of it.
For the most part, all you see at a darknights event is the bling bling. Whoopeee. I've been to a couple of those events years ago, and they just rub me the wrong way. And if viewers see that, it'll probably rub them the wrong way as well. I don't see how even flashier cars help this cause.
I can't speak for the cops.. and I can't speak for the people who constantly get pulled over. I can speak only for myself. I drive with two hands on the wheel. Not with one hand slung over the top. I sit up in my seat. Not slouched or lying down like it's a lazyboy seat. No leaning across the car either. This isn't a maclaren. The seat is on the left, not the middle of the car. And I don't blare my music. 9 years of driving and I haven't been 'harrassed' once. Call me lucky I guess.
I admit, my car isn't bling bling, but it's not stock either.
