Issues with Importfest

Hey Everyone!

I hope that this thread stays pretty civil and all, and that this is in the right place.

Basically, a lot of clubs and teams have complained about many of the issues related around importfest. Personally over the years I have found it to be terribly unorganized. If anyone has attended with their car (particularily in a large group) you may know what I mean.

If you have any issues you would like noted please take a look at this thread: http://www.teamslipstream.com/phpbb/...pic.php?t=2383 and feel free to post your issues.

I have presented this all to one organizer, and his responses have been rather rude, and unprofessional (I have copy and pasted these all word for word in there).

Sadly it appears that IF is turning into a pure money show, and that the true tuners are not cared about. Simply the sponsors. I was hoping to get some questions answered, but it appears that the IF team would rather blame the participants.

Thanks for you time!
John

It was my first time showing in IF, well, any major shows for that matter (where I had to leave my car overnight).

I wasn't told to leave my doors unlocked, but I guess that was my fault for not asking. I didn't know what the little blue dot sticker was but learned later that it means the car is judged. Someone told me that the judge tried to open the door so hard that he almost fell over or something. I didn't think too much of that.

Roll-in didn't bother me, I was expecting a long afternoon so we all came in early with enough time to clean the cars.

One thing that I didn't like was the roll-out. Honestly, there was no point to start up the cars all at once and just idel inside the dome, waiting to get out one by one and merged in. The place was quickly filled with fumes. One or two guys could have direct the cars to leave in single file, line after line and when it is your time to leave, you start the car. Use the back exit since all cars are facing one direction.

Unless Rogers Centre people didn't give a damn about the fumes and just wanted everyone to get the hell out asap.

Variety of cars, I can respect that.

I attended Importfest for the first time and i think it was a great event. I dont attend many shows anyway but this one was on the book for weeks and i was not disappointed.

Amazing selection of cars, as charles said, lots of nice japanese cars to see which was great. Looks like the K swaps are now everywhere. Our TCC cars looked terrific as well.

Having said that, i personally think that in order to raise the chances of winning for TCC as a whole in the show scene, we need to really get beyond the Civic brand as a start. I know we are formed as 'THE CIVIC CLUB' but if you look around...the growth in the club scene is not lateral anymore. Its very organic or if i can use the term...multi-cultural of cars....and extremely competitive in my opinion. Damn some of the cars were so well done over there.

Having representation with other brands and models will definitely help the club gauge more interest from potential members who are or will be interested in the show scene in the future.

I thought it was well put together this year I had a great time at Importfest....

Other than an issue with the ticket giveaway, which Bret is working with me on, it went over smooth for me.

Judging is always the opinion of someone, so I don't take too much stock in who wins and loses, and sometimes I don't agree with the choices, but its not mine to make.

All in all, I thought they did a great job and I will go again.

Before? Damn you guys left quietly

It wasn't that bad, I was on DVP at 1am. Just breathing in excessive fumes makes me high, that's all.

I lenjoyed my time at the show, it was good, but I just don't like how the shop/sponsored cars were in the same category as I was. I had to work hard without sponsorship. The sponsored cars have an advantage, but i guess it is more the initiative to get sponsored, but it's not that easy.
