I ran mine without a plate for a few months, I didn't get any tickets. I got pulled over once for it and he let me go. There a few times at like ride checks where they asked about it and I was just like yeah it fell off it's in the trunk, and they're like ok that's fine. The only time I got hassled for it was in Mississauga, but the cop was super busy so he let me go. I find in Toronto they aren't *as* bad.
Honestly though the problem with it isn't the tickets you get for it, it's that the whole time you're driving around the cop has probable cause to pull you over. I don't like that, watching over your shoulder every time a cop passes by. And if you're doing something semi illegal, again it gives them an excuse to pull you over.
That's how they caught those guys carrying like 20 keys across the country in the van, cause of no front plate. Interesting story really.
I don't do anything that illegal, but still, like say I'm DDing and we're going to a bar, I won't drink, but my friend will have some drinks in the car on the way to a pub. Illegal yes but I don't see anything wrong with it since I'm not drinking. But if a cop wants to pull me over for no front plate, bam, open container ticket...probably give me a breathalizer too. if I had the plate then they wouldn't have reason to pull me over, that type of thing..
It's like having a loud exhaust. You can fight the tickets and whatnot, that's not the issue, the point is that they can pull you over any time for it and it's annoying. And if you're speeding with like 5 other cars, guess which one they'll pull over? The one that has "illegal" radiating from it - loud exhaust, no front plates, yayayada.

Because it looks ugly.

how old are you man
If you already got pull over because of it what would you ask if it is ilegal. And if you know its ilegal and you are still doing it then do not complain if you get a ticket. You are lucky that it was only a warning the first time you got pulled over
I dont think its a big deal to have a front plate and to be honest i think it looks retarted to have it in the dash.
As per the drinking ! come on man! i can not believe you are complaining about that .

so if u have no front plate, thats a perfect oppurtunity for them to pull u over.

Also the plate inside the car on the dash is not a good idea depending on your area lol. My buddy got 2 tickets in etobicoke for that. they say that its not visibld clearly because of the glare of the windshield.

yeah it's ugly on the car, but it needs to be there.
Plus if you crash, it can flying at you or any other people in the car

I'm not complaining about the drinking either, again I'm jsut saying that the plate gives them reason to pull you over and potentially catch you doing other stuff, hence it's not worth it not to run a front plate.
actually cops can pull you over for no reason at all. they are aloud to pull you over fo no reason. to make ure all ur paperwork is correct or w.e the case. they dont need a "reasonable cause" to pull u over but they DO need a reaonable cause to search ur car if they ask. they cant just search ur car, they need ur consent. and they cant search you unless ur being arrested for something. therefore theyd have to search the care first and find somthing.
so if u have no front plate, thats a perfect oppurtunity for them to pull u over.

Further, it's not just cops who have that power. Enforcement and inspection officers for many different branches of government have the power to arbitrarily stop vehicles for inspection of driver, vehicle or contents being transported. MTO, MNR, MOE, and CBSA each have their own officers who aren't cops but who have broad policing powers within their respective areas of responsibility.
On top of that, Ontario law allows search and inspection without warrant in many different circumstances, such as for radar detectors, alcohol, vehicle fitness and emissions controls, untaxed tobacco, illegally-caught fish or game, and on and on its goes. These powers are available to cops and enforcement personnel from other branches of government.
Many of these laws also permit immediate impounding and even confiscation of vehicles used when breach Ontario laws. Catch trout out of season from your power boat and get stopped on the highway by MNR conservation officers? Right after the search without warrant finds those illegal fish, you can lose your boat, boat trailer, and tow vehicle on the spot along with your fishing road and the illegal fish.

I'm driving with no front plate on right now. The dude I bought my car off replaced the bumper and didn't bother putting the bolts back on. I've passed by numerous cops (from checking seat belts on the on ramp or driving by randomly) and I haven't been pulled over once. Truth is I plan on putting it on soon when I install my lip, grille and fogs. I guess it all depends on the officer and how shitty your luck is lol
