Is It Illegal To Run Without A Cat?

I'm wondering if its illegal to run without a cat? I'm looking to purchasing a BC race header and BC Pro Spec Exhaust.

Thanks,
Freddy

Yes it is illigal to run without a cat....and a pretty big ticket if you get caught without one too. You will also not pass emmisions

meh, who would check your car, its a new car. People with a car like that dont race in the eyes of the cops.

i have had no cat for 2 yrs... bunch of noise tickets and they sometimes ask if i have a cat and i tell them of course... just broken muffler...

although, not all cops are the same. york region will snake you... peel and metro are just too lazy.

cats just=reduction in power as of course you know... i don't thiink i will ever run a cat on any car i have... i bet that would free up a few horses on that sexy car of yours...

not trying to sound like green peace but for what its worth just keep the cat on. unless the cat in built into the manifold and your putting headers on it makes a tad bit more sense

Yea it will definitely throw a cell on your car...im running no cat right now and have had a cell on for quite some time. Im prolly gonna get an o2 simulator to get rid of it.

It did free up a decent amount of power on my car though...And yea you exhaust will smell stronger but its never really bothered me much.

Potentially much more $ than that. $380 minimum for first offence including victim surcharge, plus plates pulled, plus potential impound. Fine gets at least doubled for subsequent convictions, and can go up into the $ thousands. The money is the least of your potential troubles though.

In addition, the vehicle is effectively branded with the MoT and off the road until court proceedings for your charges for no cat are concluded, the fine is paid, and until the car is inspected for complete and properly functioning emissions controls.

The cop can also seize your vehicle ownership and plates immediately and retain them until your case is heard in court. If convicted, a judge can also order that your vehicle ownership and plates be seized for a period of up to 5 years. Your vehicle is effectively off the road for that time your ownership permit and plates are seized, and you can't even sell the vehicle in the meantime.

Nope. Look into the penalties outlined in the Environmental Protection Act, specifically Part V.1, ss 48 to 55. They can go very very far.

So do you still not care Fred? Is all the above worth a few hp?

I modify my car and what not, but one thing I don't temper around is emission stuff.

Think this one Freddy, for your own benefit and everyone else's.
