oh yeah

by the way... i know my own is a civic EK... is there an emblem for this? and another thing, my car is slammed like crazy. i know in integras you can change the direction of which your headlights are beaming at. so you dont suffer range loss because your car is dropped... is there a way to adjust where my bulbs are hitting so i can see farther... i know its not my bulbs

yes, you can aim your headlights, pop the hood and you'll see a hole where you stick a phillips screwdriver into.

no emblem says "EK" on it

you have first gear, but you are not able to select it exclusively by design... there is nothing you can do about it

The model designations are NOT acronyms (sic) for anything, nor do they stand for something. As far as I know, random letters representing model trim level.

"EK" is the generation of Civic you have. The EK's were produced between 96-00. Maybe you have an EX?

I've heard a couple of times over the years that "Si" stands for "Sport Induction" and "SiR" stands for "Sport Induction Racing," but have no idea whether this is actually true or not.

there is nothing "Deluxe" about a DX... it's the designation for a stripper coupe Just like GTO was Grand Touring Option on the old Pontiac.... Ppl make up the stupidest ****, don't believe everything you read. Si was introduced when Multi-Port Fuel Injection was added in 1988 to the Si model, but that doesn't mean the Si stands for Sport Injection. Why is our 'teg dubbed GS-R - is that "Grand Sport Racing" LOL I've read the same thing, but Honda has officially stated that the trim level designations don't mean squat other than to invoke a sense of hiearchy and in some cases to revive old heritage (like the 1500 S and currently the Type S lineup).

I read the same thing about what nautica posted. I also saw the definision to DX meaning deluxe. Who knows if it's true or not, you guys are saying it's bullshit but maybe the **** that you read or heard is bullshit too so what makes you guys right over him????. Go ask the creater Mr.Honda, he's the only one who has the right answer to all of this **** and I think he's dead so no one wins.

no really, Honda has said it doesn't mean anything... There are just a few standard designations that all car manufactureres use:

GT
GTI
GLS
GL
CL
CX
DX
LX
R
S
RS
LS
L
GX
Z
ZX

and a few others, but just look at the history of the automobiles, every make pretty much uses the same designations.

bbarbulo,

I am not sure about the other names but GTI is owned by Volkswagen. Suzuki got in some trouble when they used GTi for their Swifts in 1989. Oh, BTW, I had a 94 Swift GT in my lifetime....

Also, the GTO actually stands for Gran Turismo Omologato (Homologation). It is Italian and Ferrari used it. Pontiac decided GTO sounded better than GTH so, the went with the Italian version....

As for Hondas, yeah, their designations really have no meanings and they are not international. If you go to Japan and tell them you have a Civic DX Coupe, they will say "What?"
