Smile hey im new member and need some suggestions!

hey guys im new to this board and i plan on becoming member of toronto civics pretty soon... Anyways i got 99 honda civic dx hatchback (bone stock) and since i havent done anything to it yet, it would look stupid for me to join right now. Anyways im gonna get an 99 or 00 Honda Civic Si-r pretty soon. I plan on spending pretty much everything that i made at Wal-Mart (god bless wal-mart haha) and other my other numerous work related tasks on performance parts. My first run of parts are probably gonna include an aem cold air intake, a custom magnaflow exhuast with 2.5 inch pipping, and some dc headers. I've been looking around the Richmond Hill area and Scarborough area and noticed that many of the stores are charging realtively high prices (6 bills for cai!!). Anyways i was wondering if u "pro stars" had an suggestions on shops or websites to buy parts on and suggestions for subsitutions of parts. any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks!!

Let me be the 1st to say .....

The best bet would be to go generic on the CAI. Lots of poeple on this board have compared the two (AEM/generic) and most don't see a difference in performance.

It's nice to see another 6th gen hatch Doesn't matter if it's bone stock, just come to one of our meets.

If you become a paid member you get more benefits in regards to discounts at shops.

thank ya. cool, cool. yeah i was looking around with the cai, the only differences i could see between the aem and ractive was the material and length ( a bit shorter), u r probably right that it won't make that big of a differences ( oh man i love the beefy sound the cai makes, music to my ears). actually i drove by wednesday meet at commerce, since i live so close and am there on a weekly basis. anyways im planning on going to the next one, haha, the reason i didn't really go to the last one was because i was with my buddy in my "old man's" family 2001 honda se. haha next time i go, u see some typical asian kid in stock black 99 dx hatchback ( oh yeah my back emblem got stolen). what's up with emblem theft!! i bought a nice red one from pacific and it got stolen in a week!!!

Welcome to TCC A while back I saw some reviews on CAI's, I believe the AEM faired slightly better, but it was negligeable. Depends on what you want to spend.

See you next Wednesday

IMO, it doesn't matter what car you go to the meets in, or what condition it's in. Personally, I've seen many different types of cars at them, in various condition.

Heck, you don't even need to have your own car to go to the meets.

(won't mention any member examples) jk

hey welcome to TCC..!!!!! i'm new here to but i know a shop that you can go to it's called Versatile Racing Development....If you go to www.modracer.com and go under search then go to ontario canada then look up my name and you will see who you get there and what we do.

we make costum cold air intakes it's called the "Regman"..!!! i have it in my car and i am so happy with it. I think it's better then the AEM because the Regman is alot bigger,it 2.5" or 3" piping and it rore's like a monster. look it up.!

You can pick up no name CAI from Pacific Mall, they look exactly like AEM, and they give you a fake AEM sticker if you want.

I doubt your gonna notice a diff between an AEM and any other CAI brand, as the piping isn't that much diff, it should be fine.

You will notice you have more $$ in your wallet though.
