Hamilton area members-car wash thread!
Since winter is upon us (just look outside the window today ) I thought a decussion on the best car washes in the Hamilton area are. I will start with my experiences.....
1)Zizzo's on Main St. is my regular car wash location. It is close by me and I have never had a problem. The cost is $2 or $2.50 I think to start, but it seems like the time goes by fast, maybe it's just me though.
2)Petro Canada on Upper James by Proformance Improvements. All I can say about this place is that it's garbage. I went there last night for my first wash after getting my car rust proofed by Krown. My car was pretty dirty, so some extra time was going to be spent washing it. To start the pump it was $2 and the time seemed to go by pretty slow, which was good. The "High-Pressure Spray" felt more like a vibrating garden hose then anything else, but I guess it did it's job. Finally, the foaming brush...this thing is a sad piece of equipment. It barely spits out foam, making it so that half the time you are washing your car with the dirt just scrubbed, I wasn't impressed one bit. I now realize that you spend so much time waiting for the foam to start "foaming" that the extra time they give you goes by pretty fast.
As for my procedure of washing........
1)rise off whole car with "high-pressure soap"
2)scrub with the "foaming brush", doing the rims last
3)rise off whole car with "high-pressure rise" paying attention to wheel wells and underbody of car
4)use the "spot-free rise" if I have any time left over.
Ok, lets here your stories!

Oh ya.......has anyone ever been to "Suds" by Limeridge? It looks pretty good, but is pricey too.

LOL! I agree with you on this one 100%, the best foam brush I used was the car wash on Barton before Centremall, I can't remember the nearest intersection but it's a green scheme gas station, car wash bay, there's a macdonalds there, Tim horton's and Dairy queen across the street.
Best drive through car wash is the one at Upper James & Mohawk Pioneer. Does the best job I have seen, best 3 dollars I spent.

I usually wash my car at the car wash on Upper Pardise and Stone church.
It's not too bad.
But the time seems to go by pretty quick.
Suds is probably the best place to go if you want your interior cleaned as well.
I used to work there.
The cost is a bit high but you usually get a good job.
But more then likely everyone washes there cars by hand.
Plus.
It's not the best place to go with a lowered car.

I usually wash my car at home, but I do on occasion go to the carwash on Upper Gage and Stone Church. Everything works good, it's clean and the time lasts.
There is a carwash on Upper Gage and Fennell I use sometimes when I'm really lazy. For $20 they wash and dry the car, clean the windows in/out, spray the mats and vacuum the interior.

What about those place on Main St that charges $12 or something to clean your car, plus do the interior? I think there is a similar one down by Jim Bob's and the new Fortino's. I remember checking one out once as I drove by and it looked alright, but they use a regular car wash machine then do the interior by hand.

What do you hand washers do in the winter? I love washing my car by hand but use the spray bays in the winter. The one on Rymal btw Up. James and W5 really sucks, quick time, no mat hangers and brutal pressure.

I ALWAYS wash my car by hand. I love my Mr. Clean Autodry, works like a charm everytime. Plus, you never know who's cleaned what with those brushes at do-it-yourself car washes. The thought of running a brush that someone could have used on their wheels, with tons of brake dust and crap all over it, over my car makes me sick. And i would never go to an automatic car wash, i know too many people that have had their rims messed up, or antenna's broken off, or whatever by those relentless machines.
