Well Im so happy today. I picked up a D16Y8 engine complete with tranny and all the goodies, even ECU, axles, and short ram intake for $600. from a guy on the board.

Anyways, I have the engine now in my garage, and was wonderign what I should do to prep the engien for winter? I wont be installing it untill the spring and I dotn want to have problems in the sprign with anythign gone hard etc.

Pull the spark plugs out and drop some oil into the cylinders... turn the crank one complete revolution.. That way you can coat the cylinder walls with some oil to prevent them from rusting. Cause... eventhough the motor isn't running, the valves are still open on certain cylinders which leaves the walls suseptible to moisture which will lead to rust and blah, blah, blah...

Next... I would recommend draining the coolant and the oil from the motor... Especially the coolant.. Oil isn't so bad, but the coolant can corrode the motor or cystalize and gunk up the internals of the motor.

You'll also want to close off any open holes such as the T/B or coolant opening to prevent dirt or other things from getting in.

Oh.. try keeping the motor in a warm and dry place.
