First time buyer, need to know an ideal budget for a 2002 civic
Hey guys,
First time buyer and first time here at the forums. I'd like to buy a 2002 civic (automatic) either sedan or coupe. I am looking for a car with relatively low mileage 95-105k in good condition, I mean no accidents maybe a fender bender...but with depreciation as a result of that. What can I expect to negotiate down to? some dealers have offered starting prices of 9500....besides that can you list any major things to check with purchasing a used car. I generally ask for accident history, maintenance history, rust, engine sound, acceleration etc. I am hoping some of you experts can tell me a more detailed inspection that I can do myself.
Thanks, and looking forward to your replies.

It's always recommended to prepare a carfax report on the VIN number to see if it's been in any major accidents and to confirm VIN number. You can also purchase a Used Car Package from the MTO/DMV on the VIN number of the vehicle you are interested in to see who's owned it and if there are any leens on the car. Bringing a mechanic buddy or friend who is knowledgable about cars to view the vehicle you are interested in is also recommended. Check for gaps in the panels - making sure they line up, vehicle driveability etc.
