Driving Un-registered?
hey guys
i was reading up and i found out that your car must be registered 6 days after purchase which means theres a time gap but i was told you can get ticketed immediately if you drive unregistered
im buying a car as-is tomorrow and the guy wants to leave his plates and insurance with me and i do the same and i just keep the plate portion of the ownership and i just mail it to him what do you guys think??

For you, how do you know that he still has valid insurance on it? An insurance slip means nothing because he can easily cancel out his insurance over the phone without telling you. What do you think will happen to you if you crash and there is no valid insurance in effect?
For him, why would he risk his insurance record with your driving?
If you already have insurance on another car in your own name, your insurance on that car will also cover you on a newly-acquired vehicle for 14 days from moment of delivery. That, immediate ownership transfer, and a temporary plate permit is your safest bet.
