driver's side leaky floor, need help, ideas..

Hi Guys,
My daily EG hatch has some flooding in the drivers floor area? I cleaned the car the other day and I thought I might have spilled some water bottle or whatever but it's been wet ever since, I was expecting it dry up by now? Any thoughts? It's been out in the sun etc. and it's still wet? My buddy stuck it on the hoist to look for holes in the floor and couldn't find any? Is there a common issue with this? Any ideas? No holes were visible in the immediate bottom of the drivers compartment but what gives......?

It could be coming from your roof under the rubber molding arounf your windshield if theres rust around it, or it could be the rubber seal around the door frame or the car.

Try looking down where the water runs off your wind shield at the front, where your wipers are. Look down from there at the firewall. It may be that the fire wall has a rust hole in it somewhere and the water runs down through it.

Also check your side window seals and front wind shield seals, and door seals. Run your fingers along the top inside edge of the wind shield and down the A pillar on the wind shile side and see if it's wet there while running a garden hose over the outside of the car.

Thats all I can think of other than your heater core has sprung a leak. Check the water on the floor of the car and see if it's coolant. If not, you're lucky...lol.

thanks guys, I 'll chekc it out. I did kinda look at the seals and they all seemed firm with no rust near the edges? I'll leave it out tonight and see if the puddle gets deeper

I had similar problem like you do... you should check any possible holes that are plug with a manufacturer's rubber cap - see if it is eroded or rusted along the edge of those plug. That can cause the flooding also or it can be the wire harness for your hood and guides the water into your interior.

(Just a suggestion: you might want to make certain that the carpet under the floor mat dries completely...
...a musty odour is a pain to try and get rid of once it's there.)
Sorry, can't think of where the water would be coming from other than the offerings given above.
