Do SIR civics burn oil
#3
the word newbie fits you well
All engine's burn a little bit of all, not just honda engines.. Some burn more than others naturally. If it's burns excessive amounts of oil then you got a serious problem.. To answer your question directly, I don't know! lol...

Actually he has a valid question...no need to flame.. Ive heard from a few people that the SIR's are haveing eccessive oil burning problems... I think once it gets to a certin point then Honda will do something about it...

I know that every car burns oil, but I am asking this because I heard from some ppl that SiR in particular burne more than they should. I also have Acura Integra with almost 200k and it burns about 1/2 litre every 5000 km which is excellent but if an SIR with 70k burns more oil something is not good i think
Thats why i am asking if any SIR owners have notices excessive oild burn
thanks
ps. i am a newbie to this site only lol

Do you mean keeping the RPM's high and driving the **** outta your car????

VTEC is variable valve timing electric control or something like that. When you reach a certain RPM range, VTEC engages and uses a more aggressive cam.
I have ivtec, and supposedly its variable from 0 - redline... but than when I at the higher RPM range, I smell oil being burned. Its a new car too.

VTEC = Varible Valve Timing and Electronic Lift Control.
VTEC engines do burn oil when you drive them hard, sometime it's a lot of oil. Hence why manfactors say to change your oil every 3000miles (5000km). You should check your oil often too.

How am I ?
Do you know me? Maybe you should check yourself before you randomly go around flaming people.
Driving in the "TEC" Means to those hardcore-ers, to drive with VTEC engaged meaning on a stock engine with VTEC, above 5500 RPM.
When shifting on a B16 with a stock transmission, if you redline the engine and then shift the RPM will drop but still stay above 5500 RPM, meaning you are still in VTEC. If you continually shift through the gears at red line, one can "stay in VTEC" all the way to top speed. This is driving in VTEC.

vtec burns oil...the SIR's dont' ahve a problem...they have b16's which have been aroudn for a long time so it's not a b16 problem it jsut peopel drive them in vtec and burn oil...8200 rpm's is also alot of rpm's which will lead to oil burnign aswell....h22's burn alto of oil is comparison

No offence but 03 Accord V6 are equipped with 3.0L SOHC VTEC instead of DOHC i-VTEC (2.4L in-line 4)...

dont worry about it m8... Its very easy to misinterpret ones intentions without beaing able to judge a persons tone of voice, therefor leads to confusion through typeing/this form of communication...happens all the time...
