Del Sol. B16a?
Do the Del Sols come with b16 stock? I was looking on hondaswap, and I saw the del sols near the top come with b16, but near the bottom was a Del Sol Si with a D16z6?
Im confused, is it only us Del Sols with b16?

matt;
they made three models, each having a different engine....i don't know the base engine, the mid range was a d16z6, and the top of line was a b16a.
echien on this board just got one recently. he paid a lot though....he told me, but i don't want to say on a post. his car has the b16 stock engine...and it's amazing. the car is mint. i got to sit in it...it feels like your in a race car.
ask echien about options and sfuff for the del sol...he'll know.

The very first factory B16A from Honda to be sold in the USDM was the 1994 del Sol VTEC. That motor (B16A3) continued into 1995 and was replaced by the B16A2 (OBDII) in the 96 and 97 VTEC model...This is the exact same motor that went into the 99+ USDM SiR.
The B16A3 had an OBD1 ECU (obviously) and pushed the same HP figure as the 1992 B17A in the Integra GSR (USDM market only)
The VTEC model was the only del Sol model that was sold with with ABS and had brake rotors the same size as DC2 GSRs/EK9 SiRs.
...
If you are looking to buy one...mine will be for sale shortly.

I'd say get a Si model and then do a swap. LOL
But not to diss the Sol or nothing, but they're not light cars, they're pretty heavy.
I mean I'd like 1 cause I like 2seaters and I'd paint it yellow! Polar yellow! Mmm...
Too bad its near impossible to find one with decent milage for under 10k.
Ah well...

More del Sol lovers!!!!
del sols came in 3 trim levels, an S and SI and finally the "VTEC"!
Mine is a true authentic VTEC with the B16A2 and everything.
THe del Sol VTEC is top of the line, it comes loaded with all the available options just like the 99-02 SIR does and only comes in 5spd.
Air, power lock.
How do you tell on auto trader if it is a real VTEC and not a swap?
Look for 5spd, air, 160HP. When you get there look for tach and make sure the red is a 8 and look for the VTEC badge on the back.
If it doesn't have these things, it ain't a real VTEC!

Maybe compared to a CRX they are heavy but a sol weighs in about 2200 lbs. (With engine) Lighter than a coupe and I think a HB too.
maybe you have it mistaken with a prelude.

I don't know where you're getting your info from but sols are not heavy cars.

Gotta build the sol in TCC!!
