Darknights...worried about Popo??

Hey guys, is anyone going to Darknights this year?

http://darknightsnationals.com/pdf/compap.pdf

I went a couple years ago and it was huge. Anyway, I will be going this year and will probably drive my car. Now, my car isn't crazy stupid modified but I still sometimes think about cops giving out stupid tickets (open air filters, breathers, different colour wheels, too loud, blah blah blah) even if I'm not getting a ticket I don't want to be hassled from the cops. I recently heard about a "project erase" where cops post in different cities checking all cars that pass, and aim for modified cars to write tickets, tow or contact your insurance company to let them know what you have been up to. So, I was wondering if anyone else has any concern about a "trap" being set for darknights and if anyone has heard anything. I will most likely still go and drive extremly carefully. I know in the past few years cops have hung around and gave out thousands of dollars in tickets but havn't yet set a ride-style block.

So, what do you think?

Also, is anyone organizing a meet somewhere and drive to markham in a group?

cops are alwaays hassling ppl there.. i remeberlast year a bunch of modified cars got pulled over on the side and they were searching them.. haha when i went two years ago i was stuck at a light and sum dumbasss in a volva was driving mad fast and hit a car that was completely stopped doing almost 60.. insane...

but ye you may get pulled over but you shouldn't have problems as long as nothing illegal is on your car... youll get a breather ticket n e where.. its not a stupid ticket... different color wheels? neva heard that one before..... that open air filter thing is BS but i guess it depends on the cop

Don't get me started!

Hassling young kids for a 4" banner rather than 3...

That a hole Fantino in his press conference after the show: ' I think we were a deterrent to street racing'!

Jerk...

I'd like to see the looks on the cops faces when nobody brings their modded car to the show.

i bet its not gonna be like that this year because lot of people complained last years show how cops were pulling over modders, also the people that are running darknights would be complaining because its killing their business

I thought the organizers worked something out with the police? I am going and bringing my car, if they wanna give me BS tickets then go ahead but nothing on my car is illegal.

I bet it's gonna be the same as last year cause the cops don't give a **** what other people say. They just want to get rid of all the crazy street racers.

I'm thinking about checking out. My car is 100% bone stock minus the window tint. I shouldn't get too much of hassle from cops.

I might even see if I could take my g/f car. 00 Z24 auto instead of my SiR.

Wasn't there transportation setup last yr for Darknight?

The only time they will really be peggin people off is as we leave. If we leave in large groups i doubt they will flag us all down if they are even there. If you want to save yourself some hassle I have been told you can go to i believe any station and have the police write something out for you stating your car is legal and you just show that to any cop that pulls you over. IF you got one of those a few days before the show then you have peace of mind.

You mean York Region right??? I hope you did. LOL. Metro doesn't waste time pulling everyone over for reasons unknown...it's the York Region dudes that target modded cars. And being Markham Fair Grounds is in the York Regional District, then it falls in devision 5. I'm not sure about showing my car but, I might attend...even so, I'll probably get my cousin's grand caravan to go anyways.

Cheers,
Buddah.

the fairgrounds are in york's territory

personally I'm out of the city that weekend

I like the thugs Idea of leaving in a large group that way when they stop the first few cars they will effectively have created a bottle neck of traffic preventing the others from leaving and geting everyone.. on the up side you all bear wintess to everyone elses tickets... so know your rights if you refuse to pop your hoods all together and bring protest baners and hell stop where the cops are without being pulled over and start a peaceful blockade of that street protesting. they can't stop you from being peaceful protesters... go to darknights and when you leave there go hunting for a police blockade to protest then do so in numbers

(I'm not responsible for your actions I'll be in montreal)

I was told by my old co-op bosses about this. If your car really is completely legal then they give you a piece of paper stating so. Now I dont know how many people would do this because your just letting the police know you have a modified car. I personally am thinking of seeing how it goes because 1 my car isnt illegal AFAIK and second ill remember to get some toronto fire stickers from my dad whos a captain.

Cops don't make sense. They want people to stop street racing and they still come to harass everyone at a perfectly legal event. If we can't street race (not that I want to) and can't go to LEGAL gatherings, then wtf are we supposed to do? They want us to keep it on the track, next thing you know they're going to start pulling over cars leaving Cayuga.
