I think the rules as they are right now are too broad.
Read what I said, I didn't totally disagree with him, I am saying not all do. Case in point, the poster after my post. What my point was is not to generalize because someone mods their engine or swaps it. And unless you are at every stop light to witness this, you cannot say the same either. This is all speculation at best. Again, I am not disagreeing with what is being said, but for any of you to say that people that mod their cars will race is generalizing and cannot be proved without hard facts.

That's all I was saying.

Brian was stating the fact that generalizing has its weakness when arguing on a topic. Just like you, he believes there is a percentage of people who do that, but as to what percentage, no one knows. But is it 100%, 95%, or 90%? Who knows.

If you modify the vehicle for top speed, there is a slighly than higher chance that you like it, and you could do it when given a chance, but still, that does not apply to everyone.

The objective is to modify the car, the goal is to have something you like at the end of the day and call it your own. How you do it and what you do with it is entirely up to you.

Double_B, i completely agree with ur statement. I got pulled over last summer driving my buddies civic. Its not done up or anything, just some altezza lights. The cop said i was going so fast he couldnt tag me, and that i was racing a integra beside me. That was bull****, for one i was going like 5 over if that, and for two i wasnt racing that integra either, i was just minding my own business.

He has a 95 dx coupe, what is that like 100hp. I was going up hill too, so u can imagine, its pretty hard to hit such a speed that they cant even tag u in that car. He tried to nail me with a street racing ticket. How can that be considered street racing with no proof. Like u said though, every cop is going to be different. Which is going to make this crack down on street racing bull****. They are right in regards to some peolpe are out of control, but on the other hand, it not just done up imports that are doing it.

If they really want to crack down on it, pull over the vettes, and porches, and ferrari, who do 200 in a 80 zone, and crush there car aswell. Its funny how a guy with a STOCK vette can drive around with a 400hp motor, flying around the streets causing a mess, driving recklessly, and nothing happens. You do 10 over in a civic and its street racing. That new law can be good for everyone, if they actually inforce to everyone, and actually back it up with real proof that it was a race, not just 2 people speeding beside eachother, like Double_B said.

Shlammed, i hope u liked me paragraphs, i learned how to use the enter button just for you, LOL

i didnt mean to quote double bs post or to even focus on what he was saying in general, I dont think all do these stupid ****ing things that reflect badly on our community, I know I dont, but more than not do, I personally have never even gotten a speeding ticket. The point I was trying to make is I see this everyday, I live in brampton and spend alot of time in woodbridge. I think measures do need ot be taken, butI dont want to be lumped in with the dumbasses just like the rest of the responsible civic driving world

Haha, obviously you don't know Charles. Again, this is your assumption, which goes back to my point that started this whole thread and through out.

Bet you also assume I am some 20 something that doesn't know better either.

It's easy to judge on something when looking at the surface, but until you actually look further into it and realize it's not what it seems, you just might be wrong

"part of it" is what I said. And at the end of the post, I added "But this mostly has to do with road management, much less with the size of your engine. But could be related on a certain level."

However, your post "are you really saying that you swap engines to merge onto a highway and make an exit" means that swap engine to merge onto a highway and make an exit is my sole purpose and reason behind horsepower increase, to which, and I quote myself above, showed that was not the case.

Hence, I kindly said to review the post one more time to see what I said.

I made no such assumption LOL, I think it is laughable to justify an engine swap with the words, highway merge, and making exit (i still giggle at the thought), you are right though maybe I should reread my post to see where I said anything about knowing you or him, or even alluding to you being "ome 20 something that doesn't know better" as you put it.

All in all, no matter what, our society will always generalize, whether it be street racing or any other aspect of life, most people will group others depending on what they drive, how they look or who they hang out with. This is why I have a problem with this new law. It is too broad, and will be interesting to see how it is defended in court if challenged.

Its all good bro, but I know Charles and anybody that knows him would see his statement as a Charles trait. That is his personality. He is a very logical person and well versed when speaking on this board. He looks at all aspects of how to improve and make his car at its best optimum operationg capacity. Even with his stock engine he was this way and is a regualar to visit a track to do his racing.

Part of the reason, yes. To justify solely, no. Laughable? I believe to many.

I made you laugh, not a bad thing in my eyes. We could all use a good laugh once in awhile.

You are welcome.

it's funny how you guys preach about how street racing is bad when there are A LOT of people on this site who actually do it. how do i know? i've seen quite a few civics with tcc stickers driving like idiots racing or TRYING to start races with other people. i think we should start spotting all these people out and kicked them off the board because they seriously give a bad impression to others about this site.

bottom line is that yeah street racing is bad but i believe they can put their efforts in reducing other crimes. civic drivers get singled out especially. the concequences are already bad for street racing so i can't imagine this law making that big of a difference. a lot of people who street race just do it for the thrill of doing something illegal on the streets. it's funny because i remember there was a news report on cbc about street racing and out of all cars to show, they showed a riced out civic that looked like it was from tfatf.

i dont mean to rain on anyones parade...but we are all aware of drinking and driving and how it is illegal, people still do it and also get caught for doing it. same as street racing, it doesn't matter how cruel you make the punishment it is still goin to be there.
maybe not as much but it doesn't matter what new laws are people will still break them.

And yea it is a real **** off when some will get targeted for others wrong doings just because we are thrown into the "modded import" category. Really no one shud be gettin mad at this new law to maybe be enforced (even though i am) because if your car is legal and you are driving in control doing the proper speed limit, then there shudn't be any problems with these incoming laws.

Drive safe buckle up and dont drink you'll be fine. cops only pull you over mainly because they have a reason. so dont give them one.

I don't get why people have such a hard time realizing that not everyone does things for the same reason they do.

"I swapped my engine to race, therefore everyone who swaps their engine does it to race" It's simply not the case. I find that as I get older and have more driving experience under my belt, I care less and less about the mustang owner at a stop light, or the neon trying to race on the highway.

Take it to the track, it's more fun, its safer, and you won't have to see your K20 hatch get bulldozed because of it.

^^^ on that note...if you have enough $$$ to build a car worth racing then u shud have enough $$$ to get the car to the track and pay to race it there

guy! does it really matter what anyone else on this forum thinks or for that matter if they generalize and stereotype you into the group of street racing imports?

i say no, because they aren't the ones out to get you, the law enforcement are the guys you should be worried about stereotyping people. street racing can be defined as two cars side by side (or nearly side by side) going faster than the speed limit, even if it's 1 over. So if you're on steeles in your modded civic beside another modded import, doing 65 or 70 (like all the other cars) you can still get labeled as a "street racer" by the police. and not to say that all cops are bad, but i'm sure we've all had encounters or heard encounters of tuner driver vs bad cop and THOSE cops will only see a new law like this passed as an easier way to meet their quota. why not pull over the import doing anything over the limit slap them for street racing, speeding, and anything else they can try to give you a ticket for?

only because the term street racing is defined so loosely and there will be no "standard" per se to determine the validity of an officer's claim for justification of such a ticket am i against something like this. The streets need to be kept safer, true, but i don't believe in punishing and innocent person based on an officier's possible bias.
